"You're kidding me?! That's great. You're great" Halley jumped out of bed. Sam had come in the middle of the night to tell her cousin the good news about the tournament

"Yeah" But Sam didn't seem to share her excitement

"Then why don't you look happy at all?" Halley sighed sitting back down on the bed, Sam mimicked her actions

"Robby..."Sam trailed off and Halley immediately straightened in her place, she had kind of completely forgotten about Robby, with everything happening between the dojo's and her trying to piece her life back together, the fact that Robby was in juvie slipped her mind "Me and Miguel went to the dojo after the assembly and we were playing around and sparing jokingly and then...Robby walks in" Halley's face fell. She could only imagine how Robby felt finding his ex-girlfriend with the guy she had already cheated on him with "He tried to punch Miguel and I pushed him away, and he looked at me like I was trash"

"Well, I would be pretty angry too" the whole rivalry between Miguel and Robby ran deeper than just the school fight and even Halley had to admit Sam wasn't making it any better

"He then said that we deserved each other" she did quotation marks in the air "And then walked away" Sam seemed really affected by it "He just was so aggressive, I had never seen him like that" she shook her head frowning

"The guy just came out of juvie, Sam. His life is probably a mess right now and finding you with Miguel probable made things a little worse for him" Halley shrugged, Robby trying to attack someone he had already almost made paralytic was wrong but she understood his anger "Maybe just give him a little time, because I know for a fact he's not a bad guy" Halley may not have known Robby for a long time but the few months they were around each other were enough for her to know the kind of person he is "It'll be okay" Halley gave Sam a one-sided hug and she rested her head in her cousin's shoulder

♢♢♢

In the few days after Halley found out that Erick was back she discovered that hiding from someone all the time is exhausting, she had been avoiding her ex-boyfriend at all costs and she was thankful because they didn't share any classes. In the hall if she caught a glimpse of him she would run in the other direction even if that meant arriving late to class. And Erick noticed that and he thrived on it, he liked having control over her

And that's what she was doing in that second, she was walking quickly through the halls trying to get as far away of Erick that was walking after her in a relaxed pace, she hated that, she hated that he got to affect her like that, she hated that he wasn't even bothered by it, she hated everything, she hated him. As she was looking back to check for Erick she bumped into someone

"Sorr-" she went to apologize but stopped herself when she saw Hawk standing in front of her "Oh, it's you" she sighed, she looked at him with no feeling in her eyes

"Halley..." he on the other side looked like he was in a daze, Hawk couldn't understand why is is that when Halley directed her eyes at him he immediately felt the need to apologize for everything, even for things he wasn't even at fault, he just wanted her to know how sorry he was, however, something inside of him wouldn't let him, when he thought about it there was always something in his head telling him to shut up

Halley didn't even bother waiting for him to say something else, Erick was right behind her, so she brushed past him and into the bathroom that was behind. She walked in and leaned against the door

"Damn, she's fast" Halley tensed when she heard Erick's voice outside the bathroom

"What are you doing?" Hawk asked

"She's terrified dude" he laughed and suddenly Halley felt the need to puke "It's like she's a scared little bunny" then she wondered how on earth she ever dated that

"Don't you think you should leave it alone, man" Hawk said trying to sound nonchalant

"Why would I?" she couldn't see them but she just knew he was eyeing the red-haired boy suspiciously "It's the only fun I get these days. Don't tell me you got soft on me now, Hawk" He spat his name as if daring him to challenge him

"Nah, man. Of course not" he was quick to deny

"You better not" it was in a joking tone but she could tell it was more of a threat. Then their voices faded as they walked down the hall and Halley relaxed again but a sigh escaped her lips when the bell ringed, her class was in the other side of the school so now she knew for a fact she was gonna be late

Hello, hello

This was a short chapter just because the next two chapters are gonna be...interesting, to say the least. Hawk's redemption era is right around the corner and that's got me jumping in my chair because I really want to stop writing him as a bad person because I know he's not and as much as i love writing angst some fluff is always welcomed
