Erin's POV

It began on a Friday night. I was studying for finals that started next week, yet Ariella thought differently. She, much different than myself loves to attend the typical college parties. I would much rather take on more productive opportunities such as reading a book, going to work, exercising, watching movies, hanging out with my friends, and you get the picture. However I do occasionally like to attend these parties, not often though.

Anyways, she persuaded me to attend one that night. It was a mistake. We were all having a great time. Ariella was drunk, which was normal for her at parties. I only took it upon myself to have one drink, yet since it took much more to get me even tipsy, I felt it wouldn't matter if I only had one.

I danced, had a bit of fun with my friends, but at the same time I tried to keep an eye on Ari. It was tough, due to the smoky air, loud music, and sweaty dancing bodies surrounding her most of the time.

I looked over to my left, finding her chatting with a guy. He looked intimidating. I could tell he was bad news, so I began to approach. Already going over my excuse to lead my best friend to safety, I pushed past bodies towards my friend. As I got closer he glanced at me, smirked and led her further away. I started shoving, in hopes to reach her quicker. She looked at me and smiled. Smiled. She must've been trashed if she didn't realize the unknown man leading her outside was trouble.

When I made it to the front lawn, he was leading her to a black range rover a few parking spaces away. He looked back and smirked once again. Then he was opened his car door and pulled out one of my biggest fears; a gun. Running I was at least fifty feet from the car. Yet she didn't realize until he held the gun to her head. She looked at me with pure terror in her eyes, silent tears already beginning to stream down her makeup covered cheeks.

He shoved her in the back seat and gave me one last smirk. If I could only wipe that smirk clean off his face. I reached the spot his car was right as he sped off, splashing water and mud from the ditch all over me.

I remember calling 911. They came, attempted to calm me down, took information, and left. That man took my best friend.

I made a promise a few years back to look after her. I was not breaking it now.

My name is Erin Smith. And this is the story of my journey, searching for my best friend.
