I began to shake, my calm demeanour slipping. I slid down the tree, leaning my back against it and taking heaving breaths.

Trapped. Trapped. Trapped.

I was trapped in a giant maze with only boys and a fucking switchblade to defend myself.

I could feel my throat closing up as I drowned myself in panic. I rested my head on the tree, my eyes blurring with tears I tried to blink away.

Despite my efforts, tears still ran down my cheeks and I hastily wiped them away. Soon enough, my breathing slowed, and my heart stopped racing.

I tucked my legs into my chest, crossed my arms over my knees and rested my chin on my wrists, still shaking slightly.

Suddenly, I heard a twig snap and I whipped my head around to meet the gaze of the blonde-haired boy. He had a faint bruise where I had punched him, and I winced.

"Sorry," I murmured, tucking my legs in tighter as if I could protect myself from the world.

He raised his eyebrows.

"For punching you." I clarified.

"It's fine Greenie." He paused, taking in my curled-up figure. "You wanna come back yet?"

I shook my head, the words still echoing in my mind.

Trapped. Trapped. Trapped.

He sat beside me and I flinched away, hand in easy reach of my blade. He glanced at me, an unreadable expression on his face and I quickly looked away, leaning my head back against the tree.

"You know, the boys. They might be bloody slintheads, but they mean well." He said. "We've just... never seen a girl before. Well, that we remember."

I turned to look at him again, "You mean the memory loss thing is... normal?"

He nodded. "You'll get your name back soon. It's the one thing we remember. Unless you already remember it?"

We were silent for a while.

"You ever gonna tell me your name?" I asked.

"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." He replied almost instantly. I smiled slightly.

"Y/N."

"Newt."
