Background information: Izo and Akane's parents died when they were young, having both their mother and father killed by Oroku Saki/Shredder. Being little kids, they fled to a ship on a harbor that was being shipped to New York. Upon arriving there, they were taken in by their uncle, Hamato Yoshi, who was now a mutant rat and renamed Splinter. That's when they met their adopted older cousins, the turtles. Splinter trained Izo in the ways of the ninja, and he quickly proved to be a talented and determined student. He joined the turtles and his sister in their fight against the Foot Clan and their leader, Shredder, hoping to avenge his parents.
Other: Izo and Akane are very close to each other and they often go on missions with the turtles together. He doesn't know much about his late aunt, Tang Shen, but his uncle would tell him about her and remind him that she would've loved to meet him and his sister if she were still here. One the two turtles his is close to are Leo and Donnie. He looks up to Leo and they train together a lot, sometimes letting at least one of them win. Because how good he is with a bo staff, Donnie teaches him how to use it with great skill. He is also very supported by Raph, due to him teaching him how to use sais for combat.
