They were everything to you, they were your family and nothing was more important to you. Kiri with her affinity for everything and her mysterious air, Lo'ak with his troublesome actions and caring heart, Tuk with her youthfulness and devotion, Mr. Sully with his strict parenting style and his soft side, Neytiri with her warrior attitude and her willingness to accept you, and Neteyam. The one who was always watching out for others and was considerate, the one who loved you and who you love unconditionally back. He was soaked to the bone now, still enjoying his evening out. You were going to get lost in him again, how could you not? Was he perfect like everyone thought? No, he had shared some stories with you about his life back home that weren't his proudest moments and you had seen him struggle to say no to his parents. This was evident in him taking the blame for anything Lo'ak did and not being able to speak up, but did it bother you?
No, in fact, you loved him more. It showed he was flawed with you and damn did you really feel flawed sometimes. But being loved by such a softhearted sweetheart you felt as special as could be. When he looked at you not only did you feel stuck but you also felt seen, for everything you were and who you are meant to be. Everything you could do and everything you would, he was there for you as you were there for him. Any time he needed to watch his sibling you'd lend your hand without hesitation one because you loved his siblings and two because you loved him and wanted to lift some burden off his shoulders. You two were there for each other in all the ways that it mattered to each other.
You gripped his hand tighter, wanting him to know anything he needed to in this instant. As he moved his head to look at you he was wonderful, you loved him. You loved him. You loved Neteyam. Every time he looked at you with those eyes brightened everything up, nothing could do you any wrong with him close. His laughter was heard out of the mixture and then you heard thunder. You didn't know which shook you more, the thunder rumbling Pandora or the sound of his voice shaking your whole being, soul, and body. A shiver ran along your spine as he leaned close dancing close to you. You then wished to just dance with him, you wanted to only dance with him in the rain. It was the underlying desire you had when you had previously suggested everyone join you and Tuk.
"We will be home making dinner for when you all return." You turned hearing Neytiri's voice, her and Mr. Sully had made their way out of the circle. Your ears moved with your body becoming more open to the family again. "Stay out here as long as you want." She seemed to be in an ecstatic mood letting her heels lift off the ground as she left with her mate. "Okay, Mom," Kiri shouted back as Neytiri kissed Mr. Sully on the cheek and held his hand taking him away. Then there were five of you, though it was only for a moment, Lo'ak was still unwilling to flail around with the rest of you; it didn't stop any of you from continuing. Tuk lifted both her arms with her newly acquired partner Kiri on her left. You laughed as the rest of you joined making Lo'ak do so as well. You all shouted in unison as you did so when Tuk resumed the motion again. Neteyam and Kiri earned a hard eye roll for their attempts at making him engaged. "What are you all doing?" The rain was loud so you hadn't noticed Tsireya approaching. Not until she yelled for you all. "Dancing in the rain!"
"Dancing in the rain?" You all still had some of your momentum going. "Yeah!" Tuk was happy with the idea and its execution. "Come Tsireya, join us!" As you yelled Kiri opened her hand to her. She looked confused still but took the hand hesitantly. When she held Lo'ak's hand you could see her trying not to blush, you turned to Tuk smiling and giggling before continuing. Tsireya was unfamiliar with what was going on at first but with a few reassuring looks she got into the flow of things. She helped bring Lo'ak into the dance more as he was no longer resistant and now was willing to be a part of the silly endeavor. As Tsireya got into her groove she introduced new ways to dance together as well and you incorporated it in. You were all having fun and laughing, dancing around like nothing could bother you and nothing did.
You looked to Neteyam once again, proud of everything you had ever done to make it to this point. The rain only solidified the safety and warmth you felt. You trusted Neteyam with your life, you would entrust him with anything and right now he had your heart. You gazed at him, biting the bottom of your lip as you again wanted to dance in the rain with him. Just him, as much as you loved Tuk and the others dancing with just one other person was much more intimate. Neteyam sensed you watching him and with his dancing invited you to dance ever so closer. Pulling his arm closer to him making it so you'd have to follow to stay connected. The hand holding Tuk's felt loose and soon it didn't feel her at all, you looked over your shoulder to see her dancing one-on-one with Kiri. Then you saw Tsireya and Lo'ak dancing awkwardly.
You snickered at their stiffness but relished in the fact that you'd gotten what you wanted. To dance with your lover in the rain, as your eyes met his you wondered if the next raindrop to hit you would make you drop and splash as well. He moved first, lifting his and your arm up and spinning you. Moving to the side and letting your faces meet for a second before moving you again. Something about the dance felt familiar to you like you'd done it before. Did you really care? No, you just couldn't get enough of him pulling you in close enough to brush against each other only to have him lead you again bringing you far. As your body felt and instinct kicked in and your leg flew up you knew this dance. It was the one Neteyam had stolen you away with.
Upon the realization you were at the part where he'd taken you, you leaned in closer to him. Letting yourself become breathless from your action, he stayed and was right where you'd had him. You tipped away, continuing the dance he had set in motion. You were reminded of that night vividly, remembering the feeling of kissing him and now missing it. Though you did want to kiss him you'd also realized he had been close to you and then keeping his distance for a reason earlier in the dance, he was teasing you. Made sense to you to do it right back and every time you had him you smiled before you pulled away. You took pleasure in teasing him and his frustration. He was looking at you determined to get one kiss tonight.
You would gladly give him a kiss, in fact, you deeply wanted him to kiss you. But, he had to catch you first, mostly your lips though. You placed your foot down, gripping the sand right to turn again. As he spun you again you slipped, the sand was more breakable than you had guessed. But you had to thank it later as Neteyam caught you. He caught you by lifting you back up and hoisting you higher, spinning you around in his arms. This was no longer the dance you had been reenacting before now it was unscripted and perfect. You grabbed his face as he stopped spinning you. Those diamond-shaped freckles looked lonely, you leaned your face forward still teasing him. You rested your head on his letting your stars reach his.
You looked at his lips, thinking they seemed lonely too. You grinned before moving closer, letting your eyes start to close. When you crept closer, so did he, your lips met lightly for a moment before you both collided into each other. Not wanting the other to pull back and give another tease. You held his face closer and tighter as your lips pushed together. You let yourself slip into his hold on you, kissing him passionately, the rain making you both slippery and sloppy. It was a very feverish kiss as your hands pulled him even closer not wanting to part for a second. You felt his tongue ask for entrance to your mouth, you gave it to him letting him explore your mouth.
The two of you kissed each other for mere moments but felt like you'd done it a thousand times and each time had taken a century. When you finally did part you were sheepishly looking down at him still elevated in his arms. He looked up at you smiling proudly and started to speak. "So you do only look at me like this?" You couldn't hide from him as you tried dipping your head down shyly. He was right below you looking up at you as drops of water hit his face, he didn't blink once he just stared at you waiting for your answer. "Of course, who else is there to look at?" His smile widened and his face came close again encompassing his lips in yours and spinning you again in delight.
