Kiyoyachi | Dates (1/2?)

"Hey Yachi?", Kiyoko asked the first year.

"Yes, Kiyoko-senpai?", she answered.

They were currently eating lunch in the cafeteria to get to know each other better and hang out a bit.

"Do you want to play 21 questions but it doesn't have to be 21 questions we can ask as many as we want to."

"Yeah sure sound nice."

"Ok, then I'll start.

Why did you join the volleyball club as manager?"

"Oh that's because...", Yachi had to come up with a believable excuse since she couldn't just tell her that she had joined because of the third year.

"I didn't have a club I wanted to join and since you requested me to join I wanted to try it out. Turns out that was a great choice!", her nerves calmed, satisfied with her answer.

"Well, I'm glad you joined us."

They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before continuing the game.

"What's one of your favorite memories? One that you cherish.", Yachi asked this time, curious about her senpai.

"You remember at training camp when we showered?", it was a rhetorical question but Yachi still nodded. "You told me that my scars were badges of honor and because you told me that I haven't been covering my legs up. I'm quite grateful for that."

"O- oh.", the younger had been caught off guard by her upperclassmen's sincere expression of gratitude.

Kiyoko smiled sweetly at the stunned girl before asking her the next question: "What's your dream job?"

Yachi who was finally back to earth thought about it for a moment: "I haven't thought about it that much. At the moment I want to enjoy spending time with the team and you before the third years graduate. But if I had to say probably something with designing or layout for different things. I'm good at organizing so I'd like to take that to my advantage."

"I think that's a great plan. You'd be good in anything but I do hope we can spend as much time as possible together before I graduate.", Shimizu's voice sounded sad and a tense atmosphere was in the air.

Yachi hadn't been sure wether to ask or not but in the end she needed an icebreaker and asked: "Are you and Tanaka-kun dating?"

The question surprised both of them not expecting her to ask that.

"Why do you ask?"

"I know that it's private if you are, but I've heard a few rumors so I was curious."

"I see I'll have to talk with Tanaka and Nishinoya later. And we're not dating I'm interested in someone else at the moment."

"Oh I didn't expect that.", the younger looked at her hands fiddling with them.

"You're not going to ask who it is?"

There was brief pause before Kiyoko added: "It's one of the questions for the game."

A sigh was heard and then a quiet: "It's not my place to ask you who you like. That would be impolite."

"Guess you're right.", they continued playing when Kiyoko built up the courage to ask.

"Yachi do you like dates?"

"Dates...?", she thought that she was asking about the food so she answered.

"Yeah they're great!"

"Great, then I'll wait for you on Friday after practice at the school gates."

The bell rang symbolizing that break was over. Shimizu stood up leaving a confused Yachi behind.
