Jade pov

*A year later*

I watched my father take his last breath.

I felt like I needed to throw up, so I got up and ran out of the hospital. Karl ran after me, probably thinking I was crying.

I wasn't, I hadn't shed a tear. I couldn't

"Jade, you ok?" he asked once he caught up

I glanced at him for a second before bending over and throwing up. He rubbed my back as I continued, and soon my mother joined us

"It's ok, sweetie, we'll all see him again. One day." she said with a shaky voice

Once I got myself together, I stood up straight and walked to the wall, leaning against it,holding my stomach. I stared at nothing with nothing in my head

---

months had passed, and I decided to take over my father's company and move into one of his houses. It was near the beach, but it was close enough to the main road for me to have an easy path to the job. It felt weird living here after him, even though I believe he was barely here to begin with. When I first moved in, I noticed a path on the side of the house and I would walk on it to this private beach and just sit on the big rocks close by to think of anything but my father and family

I'm sitting on a big rock right now thinking about life, enjoying the silence and the slight breeze, when I received a phone call from my girlfriend, Zoey.

"Hello," I said giddily

"emergency meeting at Andre's house, I'm close by, so I'll pick you up," she spat out in a rush

"Why, what happened? Did something go wrong." I questioned

"I'll explain on the way there, come on, I'm out front." she hung up, and I got up, got dressed, and headed out the door

My friend Andre is a notorious drug dealer in this part of town, and unfortunately, the rest of us joined in.

Especially me, I joined a few years after he started

In the car, Zoey explained to me that Andre needed our help with a client of his, and instead of us meeting up at the usual spot, we went to his pub for the drop

When we pulled up, there were about five cars in the parking lot, and off to the back were two cars that we knew were Andre's and our friend Aaron's. Getting out of the car, Zoey came over to the passenger side, reaching down into the glove department, she pull out her gun and tucked it into her waistband. I also had a gun. However, it was in my holster that was coved by my jacket.

We slowly walked into the pub with our hands on our guns, ready for anything to go down

As we walked in, the door creaked, which caused everyone's attention to swing to us

"Oh, you've brought more friends, Andre. You're not following the plan." Some tall built guy said, the men standing behind him walked over to us and stood next to us

"Andre, we had a plan, remember? You come alone, why are there other people here, huh?" he walked closer to Andre

"You showed up with four people. Why?" This time, Andre got closer. He pulled out his gun and walked up to the guy, pointing it right at his temple

"You haven't been following the plan this whole time. Last week you were supposed to call and tell me when you were ready, did you do that? No, instead, you ambushed me while I was out with my family." Andre's voice got louder

"Then you decided, meeting up at the normal spot wasn't good enough, which I was fine with, so I said let's meet up at my pub, only come after hours, after I close the place. DID YOU DO THAT? DID YOU? " Andre was yelling at this point and pushing the guy's head back with his gun
