CHAPTER SEVEN | AFTERMATH
In the Compound, Steve, Natasha, Rhodey, Bruce, and I analyze a transmitter that Nick Fury had before he disappeared. A hologram shows the number of fatalities in the universe, the number climbing to the trillions.
"This is a nightmare," Steve says.
"I've had better nightmares," Natasha replies.
"Same," I said.
Rhodey walks into the room. "Hey," he greets us. "So, that thing just stopped doing whatever the hell it was doing."
"What have we got?" I asked.
"Whatever the signal is sending, it finally creeped off," Bruce says.
"I thought we bypassed the battery," Steve said.
"We did. It's still plugged in, it just... it just stopped," Rhodey replies.
"Reboot and send the signal again."
"We don't even know what this is," Bruce insists.
"Fury did," Natasha says. "Just do it, please. You tell me the second you get a signal. I want to know who's on the other end of that thing."
Natasha and I turn around and come face to face with Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
"Where's Fury?" Carol questions.
