"She will not stay with you, you drunk bastard"
a high-pitched female voice rang through the quite neighborhood.
"Don't yer dare go near 'er, ya 'ucking bitch"
a slurred male voice was heard right after.Shenaya, who was pretending to do her homework, finally started to pay attention to what her angry mother and drunk father is fighting about this time.
"I'm going to take her with me, right now"
the shrill voice broke the silence that took over the house. The daughter of this unmatching pair listened sharply for anything concerning her future. When she heard footsteps coming toward her room she quickly stuffed her head in the dull history textbook, skillfully pretending she wasn't eavesdropping.
"Pack your bags, right now"
"Is something wrong, amma"
"No, but you're coming to live with me now"
The taller woman said with a tired smile. "Oh" was the answer she got.
It took Shenaya a decent amount of time to pack her bags. She came to the gate of the house she lived, expecting her father to come at her mother screaming. But the only thing her father gave her is a blank stare.
She didn't ever wanted to live with either of her parents. Where she could live peacefully, she will live there. She understood that was exactly what was happening when her mother started to speak again.
"Shenaya, I'm sorry"
"For what, amma?"
"I..... married another man. And when I asked if you could live with us he almost punched me..... but don't worry. I already asked one of my friends if you could live with them, and his daughter also go to your school so he agreed"
"Okay then"
The silence that followed was almost unbearable. But Shenaya decided that she had nothing to talk about with her mother.
Finally they reached their destination. Shenaya almost sighed in relief. She was so,so tired of the awkward silence.
