Levi set up a comfortable sleeping place for Moblit and let him settle down.

Eren walked over with a first-aid kit in his hand. He knelt beside Moblit and began carefully checking his wounds.

" They're minor, " Eren commented after a moment. " Just a few scrapes and scratches from climbing through a broken window. "

" No bites? " Hange asked anxiously. Eren shook his head. " He would've turned already if he'd been bitten. The worst he has is a burn on his arm, " he replied. Hange let out a sigh of relief.

" Okay, " Eren mumbled, turning his focus back to Moblit, " I'll treat your wounds and that burn, but it'll sting. "

" I'm ready, " Moblit answered, gritting his teeth. Eren took a cleaning wipe from the first-aid kit and wiped Moblit's wound. Moblit hissed in pain, but didn't stop Eren.

Eren placed bandages over the wounds that needed them. For the burn, he soaked a cloth and dressed the burned bit of Moblit's arm " Leave that on there for about an hour, then I'll redress it. " He told Moblit. Moblit nodded. " Thanks, Eren. "

Eren snorted and stood up, turning away. While he had treated Moblit, the warriors had taken Reiner's body out to bury. They slipped back inside, but something was wrong.

Pieck hung heavily between Porco and Annie. Colt and Gabi came in behind them.

Hange let out a sigh. " She's gone, isn't she? "

Porco let out a depressed sigh and nodded. " Well, why bring her in here? We had a close enough call just a bit ago. " Levi snapped.

" We can't shoot our own comrade, " Annie sighed. " You just did, though? Anyway, I've done it five times. You'll manage. " Eren answered.

Annie stared at him in confusion and horror. But Pieck was already shaking her head. " Just shoot me. It's not worth it for me to stay like this, or to-- " she broke off and coughed, then swallowed and continued. " --For me to transform completely. "

Before Annie could argue against it, Ymir picked up a gun and shot Pieck. Annie gasped and Porco bit his lip and turned away, closing his eyes. Gabi began to sob. Tears rolled down Pieck's face as she fell to the floor, but she was smiling as she fell dead.

Porco instantly knelt beside her, the other warriors at his side. Annie quickly regained her composure and headed back outside with Pieck's body in her arms, the others close behind her.

Levi let out a heavy sigh. " There won't be anybody left if our comrades keep dying like this, " He muttered. Erwin wrapped an arm around Levi's shoulders. " He's right. We have to be cautious, " He agreed.

" But how do we just stop dying? You act as if the ones who died had a choice, " Hange spoke up from where they sat beside Moblit.

" They did. " Ymir answered. " They had the option of being more careful, especially knowing the world as it is right now. "

Historia placed a hand on Ymir's shoulder and sighed. Eren curled his hands into fists. " Ymir's right. They should've been more careful. But I know full well how easily grief can distract a typically mentally strong person. " He muttered. Silence met his words. Then Erwin spoke again. " One cannot let grief take over and control their mind in this crisis. "

" It's not a choice they got to make, " Eren snapped. " But you wouldn't know. You haven't had to kill your loved ones. "

Silence met his words once more. Levi stepped toward him, his storm-gray eyes alight with anger. " You don't get to speak to him that way, " the captain growled. Eren snorted. " I'll say as I please, and speak in any way I want. "

" Hard as it is to accept, Eren is correct. I don't know what it's like to lose people I really strongly cared about. " Erwin cut in before Levi could make a retort to Eren. Hange sighed, and Eren crossed his arms.

" However, " Erwin continued, " I still know that it is crucial to push grief aside for the moment. We need every bit of concentration we can spare during this time. "

Eren glared at Erwin. " That's easier said than done when you had to kill five of your best friends, " he muttered. Erwin let out a sigh. "

Eren turned around and let out a sigh. " I don't want to talk about this right now. " He declared before walking off.

Hange let out a helpless sigh. Levi put a hand on their shoulder. " He'll come around. He's still depressed over losing so many people, and it's hard for him to accept that he has to let go of his grief over people he's cared for and been around since they were children. Just give him time. "

Hange hung their head. " I hope he'll be okay.. " they murmured. Levi sighed. " Eren's stubborn. He'll be fine when he's left alone for a little bit. I think we should stop badgering him about letting his grief go. Let him deal with it alone. "

" But he can't think for too long. We have to get going. We have to figure something out to fix our situation. " Erwin's brilliant blue eyes glittered. " Eren will have as much time as he needs. Grief is not an easy thing to deal with, " Levi argued. Erwin let out a sigh.

" We can't keep arguing about this, " Moblit cut in before either man could say something they'd regret. Erwin blinked and sighed again. " Okay. You're right. We'll give him time, " he decided.

" But what do we do while we give him that 'time'? " Levi asked. Erwin turned to him, a grim look on his face. " We prepare. "
