I can't wait to find that girl and kiss her for all that she's worth.
"Wow, that's a beautiful dress."
I nod, laying the dress back down on the bed as I move into the bathroom to start getting ready. I'm perfectly fine with the way my casual makeup looks, so I don't bother with that. Scarlett offers to do my hair for me, and I take her up on it, remembering that she said that she wanted to talk as the two of us sit on the bed.
"What did you want to talk about?"
The blonde frowns for a second before she seems to also remember her earlier words and clears her throat as she pulls my hair back into a neat updo. "Oh, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing. You looked kind of spaced out when we were shopping earlier today."
I hesitate, wondering if I should dive into my worries before deciding not to. I don't want to let it end up souring my mood more than it already has. Not when I was supposed to be social for the next few hours. "It was nothing. I was just thinking about something Y/N had said to me earlier."
"Oh, yeah, I haven't got to ask you yet, but how did your guy's Valentine's Day date go? Y/N briefly mentioned it in passing that you two enjoyed yourself, but she was kinda scarce on the details."
I feel my cheeks heat up as those memories come flooding back to me, and I don't miss the way Scarlett's smile twists into a smirk. "It was fun."
"Oh come on, Liz. I'm gonna need a little more than that. Did you end up using your gift?"
"How did you know about that?"
Scarlett lets out a light laugh, as she shakes her head. "Who do you think went with Y/N to buy it? And I'll take that as a yes."
From below us, on one of the lower levels, I could hear the beginning of a bass beat and realize that everyone must have arrived, and smile to myself as my lower abdomen heats up just thinking about Y/N using the toy on me again. "I did not think our sex life could get better, but it most definitely did."
"Yeah, well that girl of yours is just full of surprises, isn't she?"
Scarlett finishes off my hair, stepping back to make sure that there are no flyaways or anything before I take the gown into the bathroom to get changed. I'm not at all surprised that the dress fits me perfectly, and as I glance at myself in the mirror I find myself smiling. At least I know I'll have Y/N's attention for the rest of the night.
"Wow, you look hot."
I roll my eyes at my friend, who moves towards the bedroom and cracks it open slightly. "Well, I'm gonna go ahead and head down. I'll see you in a few minutes."
I simply nod, not knowing why she didn't just wait to go down together, but I just shrug it off and search through my shoe collection to try and find something that I think would go nicely with the dress. After a few minutes of staring between two pairs, I end up choosing some strappy black heels and take a seat on the bed to slip them on.
Just as I start to stand I hear some shuffling off to my left and turn to see a shadow on the outside of my bedroom door, and a few seconds later a slip of paper is slid underneath the closed door. The shadow quickly disappears, and I frown as I walk over to investigate.
I bend down to grab the folded piece of paper, frowning down at the new note that Y/N had apparently written to me, as I notice my name has been written in my elegant script on the front of it. Was that her at the door? Why did she just come in?
I fold the note open and smile down at the message, its contents making the zoo's worth of animals in my stomach roar to life. It's a feeling that only Y/N's ever been able to make me feel.
