Forever With You: Part One

I reach my hands up to grasp at her jacket so she doesn't move too far away from me and give her a small smile as I pull my bottom lip between my teeth. "This is...this is why you had my sisters and Scarlett kidnap me for the day, isn't it?"

The younger woman gives me a small smile before pulling out my grasp completely, and makes walks in a small circle around me. "I wouldn't have been able to pull it off if you were around. You notice things too easily. But I am so glad that my initial thought about the dress was right. You look absolutely gorgeous, and I love the hair."

I feel my cheeks redden at the compliment, feeling my heart thump around in my chest wildly. "Thank you, baby. Although I have a feeling we're not dressed for a simple party."

When Y/N finally circles back around to face me, I notice her smile from before has been replaced with a smirk and I swear it does something to me as she chuckles. "Oh no, there is a party and we will be attending it in a bit, but I want to spend some time out here before we go."

She holds her hand out to me and I smile as the music around us suddenly cuts off before it's replaced by a song that I recognize, this time much louder and the girl of my dreams holds her hands out towards me. "Will you dance with me?"

I don't hesitate to take it and let myself be pulled into her arms, automatically draping my own over her shoulders as her hands settle against my lower back. Her forehead rests against mine as she begins to sway us to the soft sounds of plucked guitar strings, and I swear that my heart is going to burst with love for this woman as she begins to softly sing the words in the air between us.

Wise men say,

Only fools rush in.

But I can't help falling in love with you.

Y/N slows our sway almost to a standstill the song comes to an end, and I swear to myself that I will engrave this moment into my brain for the rest of my life as I feel one of her hands come up to cradle the side of my face.

For I can't help falling in love with you.

I can't help myself and roughly tug Y/N forward, crashing our lips together in a slow kiss that has the both of us gasping to air when we pull apart, but I can't be bothered by the lack of oxygen. All I can think to myself is that this night can't get any better than this. I have the love of my life in my arms, and we just shared a beautiful moment together, here in the middle of this grand space that she prepared just for us.

"I love you, Y/N."

I can feel Y/N's smile, as our lips are just barely touching each other and let out a hum when those plump lips softly caress my own. But all too soon those oh so kissable lips are gone and I let out an exasperated huff as I open my eyes to see my girlfriend smiling down at me. "I've been thinking about the day we met the entire time I was getting all this set up."

I raise an eyebrow and let the younger woman shuffle out of my embrace, only to find myself wrapped back up in her arms with her front pressed against my back. "You mean when you made an absolute fool out of yourself in front of me?"

I can feel the vibrations of Y/N's chuckle where we're pressed so close together, and let my eyes flutter shut as her fingers trail over my shoulders, dipping down just slightly to ghost across my collarbone and down my arms, only to follow the same path back. "I think even then a part of me knew that you were the one for me. Like you were something I never quite knew I needed, not until I realized there was a Lizzie-shaped hole in my life. And when I realized I was in love with you, I think that was one of the most single moments of clarity that I've ever experienced. Well, maybe then and this moment right now."

I frown when I feel her warmth at my back disappear, and open my eyes just as she gently spins me around, and I notice the crease in her eyebrow as she loosely intertwines our fingers in between us. Before I can comment on it or ask her about it, she pulls her eyes up to meet mine and I feel all the air in my lungs disappear as she drops to one knee in front of me, my mouth dropping open in shock as lets go of my hands to reach into her pocket and pull out a velvet box, which is then snapped open to reveal the most beautiful ring that I've ever laid eyes on.

Oh my god.

"Elizabeth Chase; I will be forever thankful that your soul somehow found mine. You are the greatest love of my life, and the only person I want to spend my forever with. So...will you marry me?"

The moment seems to catch up with me and the beautiful vision of my Y/N kneeling before me is blurred by tears that I don't even try to stop from falling, as I rapidly nod and let out a watery laugh. "Yes!"

I somehow manage to blink through my tears just long enough to see my girlfriend- no correction, my fiancée as she stands up and plucks the ring from its box. My hands are shaking like crazy, but she somehow manages to slide the ring onto my finger with no trouble, and we both let out a light laugh as I pull her into me and crash our lips together.

It doesn't last very long, because I'm smiling so widely that it causes us to break apart. I don't dare let her move away, cupping either side of my future wife's face with my hands as her arms wrap around my lower back.

I stand corrected on my earlier thoughts. This night just got a thousand and one times better.

AHHHHHHHHHH, YOU GUYS I'M CURRENTLY SCREAMING AND CRYING.

I can't believe we finally made it here! It seems like just yesterday that I was hesitant to even post the first chapter of Invisible String, because I didn't think it would do that well. But it did and we're here and I'm just over the moon!

I really hope you all enjoyed reading the proposal from Lizzie's POV. It was always my plan all along to do that, and I just felt like everything fell into place so perfectly. Like holy shit, I am just so fucking pumped right now!
