Chapter 2

Principal Peters rushed over to a crying Gina. Her nose was bleeding heavier and she was sitting against the lockers on the floor.

"Oh my goodness Gina! What happened to you?" Principal Peters bent down to help her up.

"Nothing Sir, Gina was running and she slipped. She didn't want us to help her up so we -

"No I didn't," Gina interrupted Chris' lie. "Adelaide beat me up." She sounded muffled because her hand was blocking her mouth.

I snickered at her confession. Seriously who admits to getting beat up? Principal Peters shot me a look and I covered my mouth to control myself. We all listened as Gina continued her rant about how I had pushed her from the locker next to mine and proceeded to pound on her. I interrupted her to explain my version of the truth, which was the truth. Gina really was on my locker. Principal Peters had enough of the bickering eventually.

"Stop this!" he rubbed his hands over his face before facing Serenity, Chris, and Caden. "Do you three know what happened?"

Serenity and Chris's story was similar to mine but Caden claimed he didn't see anything. This made Gina mad and I tried my best to hide the smug look on my face from everyone. A few moments of silence settled before Principal Peters made his decision.

"You three escort Ms. Stonewell to the nurse's office. You," he pointed at me, "My office now."

I grabbed my bag off the floor ignoring my throbbing knuckles and began walking towards the Principal office. Serenity looked a little pale. She knew what would happen when I got to Peters' office. "Wait can I, um, come with Addy? Please?" she asked, looking like she was panicking.

Principal Peters shook his head. He looked tired. "I'm sorry Ms. Allen but I'm afraid you can't accompany your friend. Now I asked you to do a task and I suggest you do it before Ms. Stonewell passes out."

Serenity nodded and threw me a sad glance before I turned around and followed the principal to his office. He held the door open for me and I stepped into the room I've been in a few times before since coming here. I made myself comfortable in a comfy looking chair. It was a black plush leather chair that sat in the corner of the room diagonal to his desk. I moved to so that I would be facing him face to face.

Peters' office was a plain tan colored room with his awards on a bookshelf in one corner. His desk was neat and sat in front of a window that oversaw the parking lot at the side of the school. He had a bowl of mints that was next to his computer. Next to that, he had a picture of his wife and 2 kids. They looked like twins and no older than 6 or 7 years old.

Cute kids.

Principal Peters closed the door behind him and sighed as he sat down. He offered me a mint and I declined. My heart was beating fast in anticipation of what was coming. He offered me some antibacterial pads for my bleeding knuckles which I gladly accepted. The sting barely affected me and I knew then that I should probably stop fighting.
