You pull yourself to stand, your emotions burned through you, "who were they?" you spoke conflicted, slow and quiet. Ana sighed, looking around the room at the damage,

"A terrorist organisation," She paused watching your face for some sort of reaction, "You don't want to get involved,"

You look up at her, "I was involved ever since they decided to hold a gun against my head," you reply, annoyed at her belittlement. You begin to walk over towards her, your eyes surveying the mess, you see the old photo that Ana showed you earlier, and reached down to pick it up. Your legs buckled beneath you and your fell to the ground.

"(Y/n)?" Ana said, looking back from the wall she was looking out of, "(y/n)!" She called, running up to you, "what's wrong?" She asked, searching your body for any clear injuries you may have obtained during the ambush. You press your hand to your side, wincing as you touched it.

"Oh dear," Ana sighed, taking your hand away from the wound, you stared at your bloody hand, "It seems like you have reopened your injury," She continued, searching the room for any medical supplies that hadn't been damaged.

"That doesn't matter right now," you hold your gaze out the whole in the wall, "What if they come back?" You ask, averting your eyes towards Ana, who was reapplying bandages to your side,

"We will be long gone before they wake,"

"We?" Your eyes widened as steps away,

"You said you wanted to be involved, am I correct?" She looked down at you, her serious hazel eye watched as you slowly got up, "Besides, we don't want to stick around here for much longer," She paused, looking over at the gaping hole, "they're not dead, but when they wake...."

"I understand," You whisper, locking eyes with her. Ana smiled, nodding as she got to work packing her things, "Dr. Amari, here" you say, passing her the old photo, "Thank you," she stares intently at the photo, brushing her finger gently over her daughter's image. "We should get going now," she says, placing it delicately in a bag. "My sleep darts are good, but they won't last forever..." she throws the bag over her shoulder, "let's get going."

You stepped through the devastated wall into an empty desert, The landscape of sand was flat and harsh with sunlight engulfing every cork and crevice of the cracked land. You were practically jogging to keep up with her, as your steps drew weaker, and the constant sun beating down upon you finally took its toll. "Can you slow down, it's uncomfortable to walk like this," you moan, holding your side to subside the uncomfortableness of the layers upon layers of bandages. "Where are we going anyway?"

"I'm sorry dear," Ana apologises, slowing down her pace, "we are going to Cairo, There's someone I need to see,"

"Cairo?" You pause, lost in thought, "Isn't that the capital?" You worry, knowing how busy it's likely going to be.

"Yes..." She responded, "we'll take a train to get there quicker as we will likely have enemy pursuers hot on our trail." You shiver at the thought of running into 'them' again.

"What do they want?" You furrow your brows,

Ana stopped in her tracks, her eye traveled solemnly to the floor, you watched her readjust her headscarf, "You, I assume..."

You sighed having already realised that from the encounter earlier, "Yeah, but, why me?" You say walking up to Ana, your tone confused and nervous. "I'm truly nothing special or anything like that,"

She didn't say anything, instead she kept walking.

"Ana, please, talk to me." You beg,

She grunted, strange, you thought, side-eyeing* her as you continued walking.
