Chapter 24

Mikasa: Armin, Jean! Secure the wagon! We'll cover you!

Armin: Right!

Jean: Another dead...

Armin: Jean!

Armin and Jean then landed on the wagon and the member driving turned and was about to shoot Armin, but Annie swung down and kicked her in the face and Jean put his blade to her face.

Jean: Don't move!

The member then smacked away his blade and then aimed her guns at Jean and was about to kill him and Mikasa then swung down to try and save him, but Armin then turned around and shot her and killed her. Levi looked back and saw three more of Kenny's squad aiming their gun at Armin and Jean.

Levi: Shit! Armin! Jean!

Sasha then swung down and grabbed Jean and Mikasa grabbed Armin and they managed to get out of the way of the shot, Ymir then went to go grab Historia but a member of Kenny's squad got in her way making it that Ymir grabbed Rex. Kenny's squad managed to get away with the wagon and Mikasa tried to go after them, but Levi held her back.

Levi: Don't do it! We need to fall back!

Mikasa: But Anakin!

Levi: I know, but there's nothing we can do now!

Time Skip

After, Kenny's squad had taken Anakin and Historia, everyone had retreated back to the warehouse from earlier and currently, everyone is sitting around lamp with Sasha keeping guard outside, a short time later Rex was awake thanks to Ymir. While that was happening Levi noticed Armin in thought.

Levi: What's wrong? This grimy place kill your appetite?

Armin: No...Jean, there something I don't understand...

Jean: What's that?

Armin: When I shot that gun to save you... honestly I thought I didn't make it in time. Sorry, but why was I the one who shot first?

Jean: That's...

Rex: Because the other person hesitated.

Jean: Armin, I'm sorry... I should've done what I had to do.

Armin: I know what it is... The person that I killed... I bet they were a nice person. Someone that was much more human then I am... I pulled the trigger so easily... I... did.... I'm....

Levi: Armin, You've got blood on your hands now. You can't go back to who you were.

Mikasa: Why would you say that?

Annie: Because it's the truth... You can never go back... I should know....

Rex looked over at Annie and saw her with a sad look on her face as he made his way towards her and help her out.

Levi: Just think, if your hands were still clean... Jean wouldn't be here.

Rex: He's right. You pulled the trigger because your friend, your comrade, your brother was about to die. Thanks to you getting your hands bloody, no one else in our squad died today. Thanks.

Jean: Captain Levi, I... I thought it was wrong to be fighting other humans... and wrong for you to order us to do it. I was afraid to be hurting other people. But... I'm the one in the wrong. Next time, I'll shoot.

Rex: It has nothing to do with being right or wrong. Back when I was in the clone wars there a lot of thing I wish I would have done right, but all we can do is push forward and live to fight another day.

Armin: Thanks, Rex.

Levi: Now then... it's about time we hear what he has to say.

Levi walked over to one of the man the others had captured earlier.
