"Thanks, Wednesday. How's planning?" Enid chooses to ask instead. Looking over at the food but ignoring it for now.

"It is miserable as always, although there are few moments where it is quite fun. Pugsley has Puburt tied up by his ankles. They thought it would be better to pull him up than to get a ladder. It did not end well for them." Wednesday smirks as she finishes her recount of her brothers pain.

Enid grimaced at the thought.

"There is still much to be done. The offer is still up for you come help, but I must get back before they come looking for me." Wednesday made her way back over to the door.

She stops by Enid and moves to give the taller girl a light peck on the cheek. Then she's gone again, without as much as a door click being heard.

Enid's left yet again in a confused daze.

Wednesday kissed her cheek. That was a first. Yet she was here then gone in a flash. She hadn't even noticed Enid's red-rimmed eyes or the way her smile was only half real.

But was Wednesday even supposed to notice that? Shouldn't it be up to Enid to tell her? She really wasn't sure.

A small whimper made its way past her lips. Standing in the middle of a room that wasn't hers, she felt small, smaller than she had in a while.

She hated how easy it was to get lost back in the world she was trying desperately to not be a part of. She wasn't a meek little pup anymore. She had wolfed out. She fought a monster and survived.

Shouldn't she be proud of herself now?

She wasn't, not really.

Enid reached up and traced the lines of the scar that had formed in her face. The more it settled on her face, the harder it became to look in a mirror for too long. She'd rather not think about it.

She was just a little lost, not sure of who to be or how to act sometimes. She knew she loved Wednesday. She couldn't bring herself to say it out right yet. The first time was just a fluke of the moment.

She really needed to know how Wednesday was feeling. She needed the reassurance. Maybe Enid had some things to learn about asking for help just like Wednesday did.

Enid laughed at herself, then.

Wednesday had always seemed like the one who would have the most trouble in a relationship, yet here she was worrying herself sick about a girl who admitted to having a heart for her only.

Said girl had come in and brought her food because she noticed Enid hadn't eaten. Wednesday cared more than she might say. She's just really good at showing it in simple ways.

Now, Enid blushed a bit and grumbled to herself about how she could be such a fool.

Wednesday didn't do grand romantic jesters. That would be too obvious. Wednesday offered her love in minute moments, like laying with Enid in the morning, bringing her food, and always protecting her.

And just like that, Enid had turned her spiraling mind around. Even thinking of Wednesday was enough to fix things.

So the blonde sat at the desk and ate the food that had been brought to her. In silent continentment.

"Father, you know that this event has to be perfect."

"Yes, I know my little death trap." Gomez remarked, giving a playful eye-roll at his daughter.

Wednesday had been pestering her family all day about how this event has to go well for Enid. She would not take anyone upsetting her or ruining the night for hee.

"We understand that she has your heart, dear." Morticia commented. She was holding a ladder up for Pugsley to use.

"That is not what I said." Wednesday retorts. Her arms crossed over her chest in defiance of such a remark.

"You don't have to say it. We see it." Pugsley speaks from on top the ladder, doing what exactly who knows.

"Speak again, and I will knock that ladder over, brother." Wednesday makes no move to actually get closer, content to stand just on the inside of the room.

All she was doing was giving commands to her family as they rushed around the main area of the house. Cleaning and reorganizing was today's goal.

They had finished hours ago, yet Wednesday was not satisfied with the efforts of her family. Not yet anyway.

This night had to go perfect. She would make sure of it.

What's Wednesday planning? Any thoughts?

I hope this chapter makes sense but also doesn't. Personally I know when my mind spirals it often doesn't make sense at all so I tried to play it out that way.

also: tiny romantic gestures over big displays of affection are just everything

Hope everyone's day is going well!
