I Would Rather Not Say

Start from the beginning

"I guess I am warm. So you don't really mean for it to happen?" Enid asked, and there was a slight pain to her voice, one she clearly did not expect her emotionally challenged girlfriend to pick up on.

Wednesday was becoming more attended to Enid's feelings, though. She heard it, she did not know how to handle it, though. How does she change the course?

"That is not what I said." Wednesday remarks, trying to keep her tone even and not annoyed or frustrated. She was beginning to get upset with her own emotions and words not lining up.

"You didn't say that you do it on purpose either, though." Enid was pushing, more than normal too. Clearly, this was important to her.

Wednesday needed to get this right. She did not want Enid upset at her again. She had told the girl she would try. She meant it.

Then she remembered what Enid had told her. If there is something she can not bring herself to ask, give a signal. They had never chosen a signal, though!

There was only one option then.

"Enid, signal." Wednesday said, hoping that her partner would understand what she meant.

Enid's eyebrows came together slowly. She clearly was considering what Wednesday meant.

Then, slowly, the realization set in. Then, there was confusion again as she tried to help Wednesday with a lead-in.

Wednesday let out an internal sigh of relief, Enid could at least mostly understand her.

"la mia oscurità (my darkness), what is it you want?" Enid asks, the all too familiar smile coming on her face.

Wednesday was coming to notice that the particular face Enid made for Wednesday only came into play when they were having a special moment.

A moment that would build this relationship. Wednesday loved it. Then she despised her feelings for jumping so far from distain to enjoyment of such a tiny detail. The power of a smile that is so genuine it almost hurt.

"I want you close." Was all she could muster as an answer.

Although it was clearly enough because the absolute spark of life that took over Enid's entire being was the next thing Wednesday saw.

The second thing Wednesday saw was her werewolf girlfriend, basically tackling her down onto the bed.

It was playful, yes, yet it still shot Wednesday's heart into overdrive.

"Enough said, babes!" Enid pulled Wednesday close for a moment, burying her head into the crook of Wednesday's neck and inhaling deeply.

Enid calmed herself after that and released Wednesday enough to let her adjust to be comfortable.

To both girls' surprise, mostly Wednesday's own surprise. She barely moved.

She was stiff under Enid's grasp, but as soon as she released enough for Wednesday to move, she pulled Enid to her side.

Currently, Wednesday enjoyed being the big spoon, protective as always of her wolf. And Enid allowed it for now. She liked that Wednesday felt the need to protect her. Even though Enid had been the one to save Wednesday's life only about a month earlier.

*POV switch*

Enid rather enjoyed the comfort. It was something new for her too. To feel so protected, loved, and comforted by one person was amazing to her. She was still trying to show it to Wednesday.

She just was not sure how to yet. If this was any normal relationship or anything, she'd jump and kiss Wednesday until neither of them could breathe to express how she felt.

Wednesday was a challenge, though. She had to learn to show her love a little differently.

So when Wednesday's breath evened out first, for like the first time since Enid began staying in her girlfriend's bed.

Enid turned over slowly, and she wrapped her arms around the oddly cold girl. Lightly tucked her head under her chin and whispered to the silence how much she loved Wednesday.

"The darkness to my light." She whispered into nothingness.

And when Wednesday began to breathe heavily and clearly became uncomfortable in her sleep. Enid rubbed her back Lightly, whispered about how everything would be alright, and gave the shorter girl just a little bit more space.

When Wednesday's own nightmares subsided, Enid drifted off.

(A/N

Okay so... maybe Enid's petnames for Wednesday are also just the opposite of what Wednesday's been calling Enid because I find it adorable???

Imagine calling someone your light and they call you their darkness and it's like yin and yang shit.

Or "my beloved wolf" and "my beloved raven" damn dude.

"Little love" has my heart though. Like it's so just cute.

Development is so fun to write! Trying to show Enid's personal growth too at accepting love that she doesn't believe she deserves.

We all know why Wednesday doesn't think she should be in a relationship, but maybe Enid thinks the same for a different reason? There's just so much to unpack!

Also we passed 15k reads almost to 16k so yay this book! And yay to you guys for doing that!!
