Jay tried to give her best smile, which was truly a pathetic attempt, though Gillion looked like he appreciated it either way. "No, m'fine, Gill. I just... M'just having a low day, y'know? Everything feels... a lot. Sorry for worrying you."

"Nonsense! No need to apologise, you can't help it..." Gillion thought for a little before lighting up, "What about I help you! We can take things step by step, and see if anything makes you feel a little better..! What is troubling you, Jay?"

Jay watched as Gillion's attention turned to determination, certain he'd do what he could to make this day better for her. Jay, now actively fighting back the urge to cry at the offer, forced herself to speak, "I-I uh... I mean my hair, I guess..? Gill you really don't have to-"

"Great! Can you sit up for me, Jay?" The triton didn't even let Jay finish her sentence before walking off to find a crate of her belongings, finding a hair comb and some hair ties. He took a hair tie and comb, looking back to see Jay hesitantly making an effort to sit up. "Perfect! Thank you for being so cooperative..! Am I alright to sit here and you face this way?" Gillion directed Jay into the position he needed her in, his voice was softer but still held all of the excitement and confidence of his normal volume.

"Now, Jay, are you wanting to wash your hair today? I can help with that as well if you wanted..? I also think taking a bath will make you feel a little more awake if you are happy to. I will not force you to do anything if you do not have the energy." Gillion spoke as if he had been planning this day for weeks, knowing exactly what Jay would need in case of a low day. She was honestly very surprised.

She was also aware of how greasy her hair probably was, and it did in fact need a washing. She also probably didn't smell too great, annoyedly proving Chip's teasings true.

"Gill, you really don't have to go through all of this for me. I'll probably be fine tomorrow... I can handle one bad day."

"I know you can. You are strong enough to handle a thousand bad days. But that doesn't mean you have to. Especially not on your own..." Jay could tell Gillion was concentrating from the way his voice became a mumble, his words sounding strained as he brushed through the knots of her hair.

Jay allowed the two of them to sit there like this for a few minutes, small mutters of apologies from Gillion as he pulled a knot tightly being the exception. Jay was the one to break the silence, a smile in her tone as she spoke, "I-I think a bath would be nice, Gill..."

"And your hair? Would you like me to wash it for you?"

"... Are you sure you don't-"

"Jay I'm going to go fucking crazy if you ask that one more time." Gillion's 'threat' was betrayed by his tone of voice, an evident fondness coating each word.

Jay chuckled, sighing as she gave in to Gillion's pampering plans, "Okay. If you're fine with it then... I'd like that..."

"Excellent. I say we get your hair washed first, then it can be tied up while you have a bath."

"... Thank you, Gillion. I uh... I really appreciate all of this."

Gillion, who had just finished tying Jay's hair into a manageable low ponytail, smiled. Jay sensed he had finished doing her hair and turned to face him, giving a much better example of a smile than she had a few minutes ago. Gillion only pulled her into a hug, which Jay returned happily, her head finding the crook of Gillion's neck immediately while Gillion's head just rested on top of Jay's. The embrace was secure, a tightness to the hold making Jay feel safe, that despite feeling overwhelmed still, it'd be okay. Gillion pressed a gentle kiss to the top of Jay's head, pulling her away with a small fond look.
