Chapter Five: Blood, Sweat & Tears

Bartollini: Yeah. Pretty much. It's a work in progress.

Jordan panicking: How much do we know about this? Are we able to change it if we need to? Would the FIA give out penalties if we change too much?

y/n: That will take some adaptation then, huh?

Bartollini: Yeah, we will be adapting – Okay Grey, we don't know enough yet, so we need this data from the testing now. So take it seriously. And yes, we are allowed to change and adapt the mechanisms around the engine as need be, but obviously we have limits in terms of the penalties. Let that be up to the mechanics and myself, okay, don't stress too much about it.

y/n: Alright.

Jordan stressed: Shit man...

Bartollini looks at Jordan, then at you.

Bartollini: You'll be able to handle some insecurity and uncertainty, won't you?

y/n: Of course.

Your team mate hesitates, before repeating what you said too.

Jordan: Should one of us focus on one issue more while we are on track?

Frank pauses for a second, before tilting his head. He lifts his glasses onto his head and looks at Lucy, who is shaking her head.

Bartollini: No – You drive a lot softer than y/n does. We need data on everything for both your methods of driving. Anything to add Lucy?

Lucy: I think the car will suit a more aggressive style of driving better – So, frankly Jordan's way of driving will tell us heaps about the weaknesses of the car.

Jordan: Hold up! Weaknesses? Are you saying the car will suit her more than it will me?

Lucy and Bartollini stare at him, while he's pointing at you.

y/n: Jesus man, wait for it, and we'll find out. Just cause we have suspicions about what style of driving it will be better for, doesn't mean it will be geared towards me.

Jordan: That's legit what they just said though!

Bartollini: Wait and see.

He opens a little green notepad, and clicks on his pen a couple of times; It gives your feisty team mate to cool off a little... This will be a long season with his antics and his attitude. Frank's eyes scan over some of his scribbled notes.

Bartollini: Alright, I would want you to focus on tire degradation more though Jordan. Push the car in certain areas at different levels, we need that data to see how the suspensions are holding up. Worse suspensions means worse degradation, and with the speed the Ferrari can deliver, degradation will be high.

Jordan: Okay.

The meeting goes on for couple more minutes, before Frank announces you're done. By the end of it, when Jordan leaves, Frank tells you to stay behind for a moment.

Lucy: I'll wait be in the garage...

y/n: Yeah, see you in a second.

Frank closes the door when Lucy leaves.

Bartollini: Look Kid, I can speak directly with you, right?

y/n: Yeah, of course.

You don't know what to expect from him. You've merely worked together for a few weeks, so you can't quite read your new team principal yet.
