Your heart dropped as the guards grabbed you and started dragging you away. That's when you began to plead with him, you just wanted your dad back. He was all you had, he had been everything to you, sure he had his faults but you thought you could help him. You thought you still had time together, sure your relationship had been strained for a few weeks but surely he would tell the guards to let you go. Surely he would let you come crying back into his arms. It had to be a joke, he wouldn't do this to his little cover girl. But the further you got away from him the more real it seemed, he was letting you go. Not even, he was killing you, killing your entire life you had. When you are thrown into an unfamiliar street the smoke fills your lungs. You didn't have an air filter mask on, you could barely breathe. You were taking in sharp breaths, anything to breathe, you clung to the door banging on it for someone to let you in. You wanted everything back, it was gone so fast, you wanted it back. You wanted it to be how it used to be, why did things have to change, why did you have to change? Why couldn't you have stayed daddy's little girl?
You sobbed uncontrollably as you still clung to the door as best you could. You were sliding down feeling the weight of it all. You just couldn't move, but you needed to, you needed air. But, if his daughter was already dead then what did it matter? She was dead, she was dead the moment he kicked her out. She was gone, all that was left was a shell of her. They were just memories now, memories that were no longer yours. They were no longer real, they didn't mean anything. They had meant everything to her and now she was gone, she was dead, she had to be. For you to go on she had to die, right there on that doorstep. But, letting her go was so hard, you could only sob. You needed to let her go but the memories were so imprinted in your mind you didn't know how to. You knew you had to, it was a matter of survival now. You were about to start to let her go when you heard your name.
"(Y/N)." It was faint, and she was still stuck to that door knob. "(Y/N), wake up." You felt your shoulder move but when you tried looking at it nothing was moving. "(Y/N)." The voice spoke in a whispering shout, you could feel your eyes moving around, then you felt your eyelids, they were closed. You were dreaming. "(Y/N)." Your eyes shot open, the first thing you felt was the cold air, in your lungs and on your soaked face. Then you saw the person standing over you, you jumped back as your breathing was still ragged. You started to fall back and out of your hammock when said person reached out, catching you. "Hey, kiddo, it's okay." You were still breathing heavily, not understanding what was happening or going on. "Calm down, it was just a nightmare. It's okay, you're safe." He brought you close, but you were very reluctant, you tried not to move any closer nor any further. "(Y/N), look at me." There was that direct tone, finally, you looked at the person's face, and there was Mr. Sully.
Upon seeing him you tried to put up any kind of front you could muster up. You had just screwed up majorly by taking the blame earlier, if he saw you now he might just send you back. "M-Mr. Sully, Sir." Your voice cracked and there were still tears running down your face, you needed to stop them. "So- sorry for the- for the disturbance." You were hiccuping and losing your words, nothing was coming out how you wanted it to, you were breaking. "I can.... I can shut-up." You took in a shaky breath, just trying anything to get yourself stable. Mr. Sully shed you and brought you closer, this time you were less reluctant. "Come here (Y/N)." You were expecting him to just grab you by the shoulders as always and tell you that you were doing great but this time he embraced you. You said no words, you barely knew how to react. Mr. Sully wasn't one for many hugs, but boy was he a good hugger. You couldn't help but dig your head into his arms. He didn't say anything as you hugged him back tightly still crying. You held him like you held that door knob.
You both stayed that way until there were tear streaks forming on Mr. Sully's body, when he pulled away you felt just as tired as before, but this time there was a weight to it. "I'm sorry." You were able to muster the strength to say something first. Mr. Sully sighed before speaking. "What is it, night terrors? Nightmares?" Personally, you didn't know either, they just seemed to be memories you had forgotten. "I'm not sure." You hadn't told anyone about them due to not wanting to remember them. "Do you remember what was happening?" You nodded, you didn't want to tell him. "Are you going to send me back?" You just blurted it out, honestly, you didn't want to know the answer. "No," He reached his hand out to your face, you flinched for a moment being reminded of the necklace again. "No, we won't send you back." He placed his hand back on your shoulder rubbing small circles trying to calm you still.
"You are one of us now, (Y/N)" You slightly smiled as you exhaled, another tear starting to form again. Great mother, how many times have you cried tonight? "Thank you, sir." You sniffled and smiled wider, it was only one sentence but you would treasure it for the rest of your life. It gave you stability, comfort, a home, and a family possibly. "Thank you." You could feel yourself getting all worked up again as you looked down. "Hey," Mr. Sully took a hold of your chin pulling your head back up. "Hey, no more tears alright?" You nodded as a tear came down your face. "Yes, sir, sorry, sir." You just smiled as he did too. He moved his hand to wipe your tear away. "You belong here with us, know that." Another sniffle came from you as you took in a long breath to calm yourself completely. "I do, I do now. Thank you, Mr. Sully." He nodded at you as he started to pull away from you, you wanted to cling onto him longer.
"Get some more rest, you look like you need it." He grabbed a piece of fabric you often used as a blanket, it was something you had made just for you as the Na'vi didn't actually have blankets. "Sweet dreams." He pulled it up to your shoulders, tucking you in and giving your braids one last run-through. That was your weakness, any time someone played with your hair you instantly felt more tired, your eyes fluttered closed as you spoke for the last time that night. "You too Mr. Sully." You snuggled back in and slept peacefully.

In the morning you sadly remembered vividly what you had said to Neteyam. You wouldn't look at him, which was hard considering he was sitting right across from you during breakfast. Lo'ak was to your right and currently, you were staring him down to avoid looking at Neteyam. You still couldn't understand why he took the fall for Ao'nung and you were more bewildered when he said, "Oh hey, do you guys want to come with me to hang out with Ao'nung, Tsireya, and Rotxo?" Hearing Ao'nung's name your nose twitched. "Yea!" Tuk was the first to pipe up, Lo'ak gave her a look that clearly said he didn't mean her. "Sure, why not." Kiri was next, "Great Kiri and I will go." Tuk gave a whine as she looked at her mother, Neytiri turned to Lo'ak. "Lo'ak, don't exclude your sister." He gave a sigh as he pursed his lips. "Okay, Kiri, Tuk, and I will go." Hearing them all going you hated the idea of going yourself. But anytime those three were busy the only other Na'vi you would hang out with was Neteyam and right now you didn't want to. You were trying to figure out how to apologize to him first.
"Can I come too?" Lo'ak turned to look you in the eyes. "Yea, for sure cuz." Again, sometimes you forgot they knew Earth slang and hearing it sounded foreign to you. "Great." You looked back to your meal which was almost finished. "I'll go too baby bro." You thought Neteyam might volunteer to come along, it was why you didn't immediately say you would go. "Okay, then I guess all of us are going." You just ate breakfast as you had been, eating the last bits. "I can't exactly let you out of my sight after yesterday." Your eyes widened as you looked away from the group with your lips pushed together as you had your mouth full. Yesterday was truly something and it was clearly an awkward subject to bring up. "Lo'ak is safe, that is all that matters." Neytiri lightly held one of his braids in her hands as she looked at her son with love. You just kept eating, as the scene made a small smile creep upon your face. You truly loved being here, looking to Mr. Sully your smile widened more. You could feel your chest swell, last night felt like a dream too good to be true. But, it was true and you started to truly feel a part of their family.
