Weeks passed. The days were flying by.

Hawks became busy quickly. Between meeting with the unsure members of the league (basically leading group therapy in secluded locations) and preparing for the court case against the commission, taking up extra missions, being very publicly heroic, he even got to organizing some charity events to support the foster care and adoption system as well as attending a couple protests that had sparked regarding the right to hero mental health resource access his schedule was completely full.

Somewhere in there he wondered how Aizawa and Midoriya were doing in their own little situation. His heart really hurt for the kid, even over his own troubles, he wanted the best for the green haired hero-in-training.

But after weeks and weeks of business the day finally came.

His case against the commission.

He entered the courtroom with false confidence, and eight hours (and many many breaks) later he came out with too much money's compensation to his name and so many tears he could fill his own ocean.

He had won, and his boss and many many of the employees who worked for him --the person who'd clipped his feathers and shoved his head into scalding hot water, the guards who'd dragged him down there, and the boss humself-- were all given prison sentences. He was extremely relieved to know that his boss was given life without parole and charged with every crime, every count of every terrible thing he'd done and ordered against Hawks. The years in prison built up from his crimes extended beyond a human lifetime.

And Hawks was glad to never see him again.

But God that day was troubling beyond belief. The several breaks they had to take were usually him hyperventilating or crying so hard they couldn't continue and had to wait for him to calm down. Mirko was with him the whole time and was the main person guiding him through breathing exercises and basically encouraging him back in there.

And after the case media was swarming him, asking him questions about what really happened.

He ended up surrounded when he'd walked out of the court room, and all he could do in the midst of the panic attack that had set in was wrap himself in his wings and cover his head until they all left. He hated that there was that footage of him out there now, but he wasn't ready to give his story to the public yet.

That night he could barely sleep he felt so residually panicked. To summarize it was nothing but nightmares and more and more panic. By the morning both Mirko and Hawks were exhausted and took the day off work to finally get some sleep safe in the daylight.

But after a couple pieces of toast (after being too nervous to eat at all the day before) he was on his way to feeling okay again.

All of their day off, Hawks blabbered on to Mirko about the talk he was planning to have with the head detective and organizers of the case on the progress he'd been making in the weakness and how excited he was about how well it was progressing and she couldn't help but smile at the progress he'd made.

But her grin made him stop mid sentence, "what?" He asked, returning the smile, a chuckle following.

"It's just really nice to see you motivated and happy. You've made so much progress I'm so proud of you." She said with such genuine pride that he couldn't help but get teary, "awh dude cmere." She said, motioning for him to give her a hug.

He laughed with a sniffle and joined her in a tight hug, "thanks, Rumi. For everything. I wouldn't-" he let out a hiccup, "I wouldn't be here without you. You're my best friend. The best person I've ever met. Thank you so much." He sobbed into her shoulder, hugging her so tightly she nearly fell over.
