(S:1 Ep: 32) Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound

"Dakota": Oh, twinkly star, please may I have a puppy?

[Something falls offscreen and half of the backdrop collapses, showing Lips holding a stick that's suspending the star. The scene then cuts to Dolly in her bed. She "wakes up" and "yawns".]

Dolly: [voiceover] And then the next morning, she woke up...

"Dakota": Oh, my wish came true!

[Dolly points and the camera pans over. Evan is struggling and whining at the foot of her bed, equipped with a puppy-ear headband. We can see Duncan's arms as well as he tries to hold him still.]

"Dakota": My very own puppy!

[Evan bites Duncan's hand and he screams. The camera beeps, cutting off the yell. Dolly is then seen holding Evan, who is happily eating a chocolate chip cookie.]

"Dakota": I will call you Bumpy.

[Cut to the hospital. A nurse is taking Pearl's blood pressure and watching the tablet over her shoulder.]

Pearl: Hee hee, Bumpy!

Nurse: Why is everyone wearing white gloves?

[Cut to the story, at the toy produce stand. Dolly is dragging an antsy Evan by his arm.]

Dolly: [voiceover] Dakota and Bumpy went everywhere together.

"Dakota": I'll have some carrots, please, shopkeeper. Bumpy loves carrots.

"Shopkeeper": Oh, yes. What a lovely- (*Evan darts forward and bites Lips on the ankle*) PUPPY! Ow! So gentle and mild! AGH!

[The camera falls on its side as Duncan enters the frame to break up Evan and Lips. Cut to the hospital. All three are laughing as Lips yells in pain. Cut to the story where Dolly and Evan are skipping through a field.]

Dolly: [voiceover] Dakota was finally happy.

[The shot changes to Dolly in her bed again and she "wakes up" and "yawns". We then see Evan covered in circle stickers of different colors.]

Dolly: [voiceover] Then, one day, Dakota woke up to discover that Bumpy was very sick.

"Dakota": (*at the camera*) Oh, no! Bumpy's sick!

[The scene transitions with a clock wipe effect. Still on Dolly's bed, Dolly is sadly petting Evan, who is picking at the stickers. Outside the window, Lips is holding a piece of cardboard with a sunny sky on it and Faith is holding a piece with a night sky. They shuffle past the window one after the other to show time passing.]

Dolly: [voiceover] Lots of days and nights went by, but Bumpy wasn't getting better.

[Faith trips in the background, dropping her cardboard. The shot changes to show just Dolly and Evan, who pulls off a sticker from his knee.]

"Dakota": It's not fair.

[The scene changes to the backyard. Charlie is fishing in a kiddy pool with a magnetic fishing toy. She's also wearing white gloves. Dolly carries Evan, now tightly swaddled in a blanket, into the shot.]

Dolly: [voiceover] Dakota wandered around looking for help...

[Charlie looks at Evan and shakes her head sadly. The scene cuts to Dylan, who's also wearing white gloves and hammering the fence with an inflatable hammer. He shrugs and shakes his head.]

Dolly: [voiceover] ...but no one knew how to fix Evan- Oh, I mean Bumpy.

[The scene cuts to the produce stand again. Lips' leg is covered in colorful bandages.]
