Game Set, Play (w|w version)

Separated part 2

Eventually, Alex tried to comfort Peter, "Breathe, Peter. We saw this coming. What's important is it wasn't us or anyone we know."
"But it could have been us. Us or Liz or any of the others. Like us, they were just trapped here. They didn't ask to be killed. What if..." Peter had to stop talking to prevent himself from crying.
"We're going to be okay. As for the others, they can take care of themselves. It'll all work out."
"How can you be sure?"
Alex said, "I have a feeling. Gwen can make people seizure and Liz has her lightning. Liz is tough. We'll find them all and get back home."
"Liz is tough. She's amazing. I don't know how she can be so strong about everything."
Peter continued to talk about Liz and stopped tearing up. Talking about Liz made him feel better so he told Alex a couple of stories involving the two of them. Alex wasn't interested in the stories but wanted Peter to feel better.

An hour had passed since Rose and Sam had bumped into the invisible wall.
"Can we take a break?" asked Rose.
Sam replied, "Sure. I doubt we're getting out of here soon. There are still only trees in every direction."
"Which is a good sign considering that there are panthers out here."
"Still, this forest must end somewhere."
They stopped walking.
Sam added, "We'll face away from the wall. Nothing'll attack us from there. That leaves three main points of attack to watch. I'll take this side and you take that one. We'll both watch the third one that way when I get back."
"Where are you going?"
"To pee."
"Where?" asked Rose looking for a bathroom.
"Behind that tree. It's not like we're going to find a modern bathroom out here or an outhouse."
"Thank you for killing my dream."
"Your dream? Is that why you seem off? Are you holding it in hoping to find a bathroom?"
"Not a modern one but yeah."
"I need you focused if we're attacked. When I return, you're going too."
Rose didn't reply.
Sam created some distance between the two of them. When she returned, she forced Rose to walk off into the distance.
After Rose finished, the two of them sat against different tree trunks facing opposite directions. They didn't talk to each other.

Inside Rose's head

That was uncomfortable. I'm going to be upset if we find an outhouse close by when we start walking again. All of this sucks and makes no sense. What does that guy get out of this? This just seems boring to an observer. I wonder how Gwen's doing. I hope that she's okay. I wonder if she was lucky and found someone. What if she's with Alex! No, it's okay. There's nothing that one knows that the other doesn't. Nothing that matters anyway. What if they're not together? It doesn't matter. They're both capable of defending themselves. Hopefully, someone's found Peter. It would suck if something bad happened to him. He's an all right guy. He's the only one worse at video games than me. Like last week, when he gave in and joined us to play the shooting game that Alex likes so much. I finally didn't come in last place 'cause I kept killing him. Not that Gwen was impressed. Nothing seems to impress her. Not from me.

Rose drifted off to sleep.

Inside Sam's head

Nothing but trees. Nothing. How big is this place? About as big as a real forest or jungle. D'uh, Sam. But this isn't real. It was created by someone. Wasn't it? Why else would it have an invisible wall? Unless the wall has nothing to do with the creation of this place. It could be to keep a certain air composition. It's possible whoever kidnapped us isn't from whatever planet we're on and couldn't survive here. They'd have to breathe in order to watch us in their little play area... or not so little. Then again, who's to say we're on another planet. We could be anywhere. I hope we're in the same world. We don't need to go through that again so soon. I hope the others are safe. Poor Peter must be terrified. He's never been good at dealing with danger. I have to believe he's joined up with either Alex or Liz. He'd be safe with them. We don't know what to expect here. Who knows what's waiting for us at the other locations. This would be so much easier if we were together. No time for wishing. I need to figure a way out of this forest and out of this entire whatever this is. The voice said there were four locations but we were only to be placed in three. I wonder why that is. Didn't I play a video game similar to that? We had to find the last one to win.
