confessions of a star-eater

Once I was told I eat with the roof of my mouth
Rather than with my teeth
This is seldom true; for I leave fires in my wake
An asteroid hurtling hard to life– always igniting, always igniting
Never content with things the way they are
More pleased when I think of how they could be
Newton's unstoppable force– one capricious girl
And the spirits in her bedroom
Her hand limp in a purple bowl towering with fruit
Stagnation is a tall, dark, crouching silhouette
I am a fountain of light in the shape of an orchid
Always igniting, always igniting, always Class A, never decaf
I wrangle the ugly truth like a piglet and drag it out from the mud
Once I was told I have tunnel vision
But at least I am barreling through the tunnel I can see
Blazing through and creating a trail others may follow
The edges of my pages are burnt; I bruise myself with my unyielding flame
Always craving better, always craving better
Never ever settling for less
Always igniting, always igniting
