You're still gawking at the store, hardly paying attention. It's large, much larger than you anticipated, and the aisles just seem to go back and back and even further back. You can see a section for tuxedos and suits as well, so it doesn't just cater to dresses. It's massive.
"You've got the room prepared?" Levi asks, looking to you.
She nods. "Of course. Any idea what you're looking for today?"
"Could you just- just grab a few samples in- what size?" Levi asks you, and you squeak out your dress size to the lovely attendant. "She's going to try some on. Grab anything."
The lady looks a bit confused, but when Levi doesn't provide any more context, she just nods and gestures towards the back of the boutique. "Follow me, and I'll show you to your dressing room," she says politely.
Your eyes can't help but skim the store as the attendant leads you to the back. You're not the only ones in here; there's a few more people browsing the racks. Your eyes catch on so many different dresses: short and long, sparkly and plain, long-sleeved and strapless, black, green, and even vibrant shades of orange. The range here is incredible- you're going to have so many options.
The nerves are fading and exhilaration is starting to course through you. You get to try all of these lovely dresses on- and you don't have to pay for the one you decide on. This has to be a dream.
The attendant takes you into a room with a sign on the door that reads private. Your jaw drops when you enter after Levi: it's a private dressing room. There's two armchairs on one side of the room and an area that's curtained off, which you assume is where you'll get changed. There's a massive mirror, a shelf, and when the curtain is pulled back by the attendant, you can see more mirrors in the sectioned off room as well as hooks to hang up clothing.
"Here you are," the lady says, bringing her hands together. "I'll go... I'll go grab you some samples to try on, and then maybe you can tell me what you like and don't like?" she suggests, looking to you.
You manage a nod. She smiles, then steps past you and out the door.
You spin on Levi. "A private dressing room?" you say, excitement seeping into your tone. "Really?"
"We're regulars here." Levi sits down in one of the armchairs. "This isn't new."
Maybe it's not new to him, but it's new to you. You step into the changing room, pulling the curtain aside. There's a large bench and a small buzzer, probably to call the attendant if needed. "This is so cool," you whisper to yourself, shifting from foot to foot.
The attendant returns, holding a few hangers. "These ones are some of our more old fashioned designs," she says politely. "Try them and let me know what you think."
She hangs them up in your changing room, then leaves again. You stare at them for a second- there's a blue one, a yellow one that looks rather ugly, and a black one that looks promising. "Should I show these to you when I try them on?" you ask, glancing at Levi.
He shrugs. "I don't care."
You're actually quite excited for this. You love trying on clothes, especially such elaborate dresses that you'd never be able to afford in your lifetime. This is going to be fun. "I will," you say confidently, grinning at him. "You have to help me pick. You're paying, after all."
"Fine."
"Which one first?"
Levi looks behind you to the dresses hanging up in the changing room. He backs up, sitting down in one of the armchairs in the massive area. "I don't care. Yellow."
