Taming Silass

13. My Boys

"You told me to babysit him. I babysat."

"Seth." He was sitting in a chair, being a brute as he took up all of it. He was relaxed, his head laid back as he sighed at me. He wasn't invested in this conversation like I was, and this was a conversation I needed him in.

"I didn't do anything or say any-."

Cutting him off before he kept talking about what we knew was bullshit, "I didn't want him to worry! You talked to him like that last night, and had him calling me this morning worried that I was hiding something from him, he was asking if he should be worried about anything." They did have a serious talk last night, one that when I heard about it, I was not fond of it.

Seth concerned Silass a lot by saying I assigned Seth to him, to keep him safe. Silass probably thinks I'm some underground drug lord of something by the means of his voice earlier. I don't know what was said specifically, but he was worried about why he needed security in my building. It wasn't the fact that he was physically unsafe here, it was because he isn't mentally safe around that woman.

"Is there anything he should be worried about? That I should be more worried about?"

"You know the answer to that." I snapped at Seth as I sat back in my chair heavily. I asked Seth to stay with Silass while I was out, to watch him and keep him away from that woman. Not only did Melina get close to him and have conversations again, but she also got into Silass's head again and had him calling me just to rant about the things she said about him, about me.

Not only did Melina get to him, but Seth also spilled more about what he was now assigned to do. While it was one night, it was planned to be more and Seth and Silass spent time together. It probably isn't as big of a deal that I am making it, but the fact that Silass was questioning things last night was what got to me. Seth didn't need to blabber his mouth about him being one of Silass's bodyguards now that he was with me.

"Then why are you having me babysit him? He is a grown adult who can handle himself just fine."

I shot him the tenth glare in the past five minutes, "I am a grown adult too, maybe I should fire you."

"Skylar that's not what I meant-"

"Seth." I raised a hand to stop him as he tried to argue again, this time he stood up and crossed his arms while I cut him off. "I hired you for a reason, I told you to watch Silass when I am not there. I am well aware of his physical aspects and that he can handle himself, but I am more so worried about the woman around him. She is dangerous for his mental state. He doesn't need to know about the logistics of your job to protect him or from who, I didn't want him to worry about it. But now that you have opened your mouth not only about being one of his guards, he now knows about Melina more than he did before, he now is worried about his safety and mine."

"Has he acted out before? Talk to you about her?"

"Yes, and I know enough about that woman without Silass's stories to know who she is. If I say keep her away, you stay near him and keep her away."

"Then why are you so worried?"

"I've seen her past partners, she's been at events before. The outcome of them is horrible, she barely bats an eye. I can't imagine she took the time to care for Silass any more than the five subs she's brought here alone in the few months. I don't like her, I don't trust her around Silass and that is enough for me to ask you to keep them separated."

It could be a purely selfish reason, or it could be an instinct to just keep Silass out of harm's way no matter what that harm could be. If I was simply being selfish, then so be it. I want him away from that one woman, that one woman who was his last partner. "How do you know that their relationship was bad? As bad as others, maybe they liked their relationship that way." If I wasn't being selfish, then it was to simply keep Silass away from anyone who would cause him displeasure or harm, and she was one of those people who Seth could steer him away from when I couldn't.
