Neteyam let his arms fall to his side as he sighed. "Come on." He then extended his hand to Tuk and she gladly took it. "Let's get you guys back in the Marui and dry off." Kiri hadn't offered Lo'ak any help as he was already standing up and starting to step back onto the walkway. When you stood you felt a harsh sting on your back as the breeze whisked by. Inhaling sharply you tried turning your head to look at the source of the sting only to fail. "You good (Y/N)?" Lo'ak tilted his head, you just lifted your head up and swatted at empty air. "Oh yea, fine." You then stepped on the suspended walkway and walked back into the Marui.
When you made your way back Neteyam assigned you all something to help with meal prep and cooking, your job was to start the fire and tend to it while Neteyam and Tuk prepared the food for the fire. You were given the task that let you just sit solemnly and make sure the fire didn't go out. Of course, after a short time, you grew bored and Neteyam suggested to you that you could clean up the mess you, Lo'ak, and Tuk created. You agreed quickly and moved up and onto your feet. You grabbed a gourd that had been flung from its suspended place, when you rose back up your hair had found its place mostly on your chest. "Oh, Eywa." Your ears perked hearing Neteyam's defeated tone. "Hmm?" Turning back around Kiri was suddenly right next to you reaching her hand out. "Your back, it is bleeding." So that's what stung earlier, you tried turning to look at it again. You didn't see the mark but you saw the blood that had started to trickle down your back. You were now so thankful you decided not to wear the clothes Tuk had made you today. "Kiri, can you go and get some healing supplies?" She nodded, her hand was on your forearm for an instant until Neteyam asked her to leave. Neteyam then stood up. "Keep preparing the food, Lo'ak can you help Tuk?" Lo'ak listened to his brother and started to make his way over. "And you, you get to come here." When Neteyam was by you he directed you closer to your hammock before sitting you down on the floor. He then leaves you momentarily grabbing something, you had been bored tending to the fire before but now you were more bored. You at least had the fire before, when Neteyam returned with something in his hand he placed it on your back while he moved the rest of your hair away. "Ow, what's that for." It didn't really hurt that much but the contact stung against your skin. "It'll soak up the blood." You squirmed as you sat not liking whatever it was.
When his hand made contact with your back you shivered and started squirming more, it had been a little longer and you were beginning to wonder where Kiri was. "Stop squirming, you'll be at the entrance by the time Kiri gets back." His hands were cold to you causing you to keep shivering as you rolled your eyes. "Sorry, but your hands are really cold." He placed his whole hand on part of your back and you cringed at the touch. "Then how 'bout you warm them up for me?" From the corner of your eye, you saw his teasing grin. "I'm not much warmer." Your hair was still wet from falling in the water and kept your skin damp. "You're warm to me." He leaned into your body placing his other hand gently across your wound. "Alright, I'm back," Kiri made her way quickly to her brother's side behind you. "Here Neteyam use this." When you saw her hand Neteyam some ointment you looked up in dread. "Just my luck." When Neytri had taken care of your ear back with the Omatikaya it had stung like no other medicine. "Okay, thank you, Kiri." It was just as cold as Neteyam's hands and stung more than when you had gotten the scratch. "Ow!" Hearing you in pain earned some chuckles from Kiri and her other siblings. "Ow, ow!" Neteyam gave his siblings an intense look as he kept applying the ointment. "Eywa, you sound just as bad as Neteyam," Lo'ak spoke as another fit of giggles made its way through the Marui. You would have said something other than ow but Neteyam's hand ventured off to a different part of the wound you weren't even aware of. "Ow!" Your back was now starting to arch forward trying to avoid his touch. His hand just reached further as he applied the last of it, you let out a long sigh as your muscles relaxed.
"I still have to put one more ointment on the wound." His hand reached for another and you started to protest and shake your head. "Nu-uh, nope, it's just a scratch! Can't we just skip that one?" Netyam gathered some of the ointment in his hand and you started to inch away. He gave you a firm look and lunged for you seeing as you were trying to get ready to book it. You turned out of his way and started to make your way to your feet when a solid smack was heard. "Ahh!" Neteyam had flung the ointment onto your back and you felt the sting of not only the ointment but the smack. "I have three siblings (Y/N) if you thought you were getting out of my grasp you are deeply mistaken." Your brows were furrowed and your teeth started to clench as the ointment still stung. Neteyam made his way to you his hair swinging in the process. "Now sit back down." He had his hand on your bicep leading you back, you were reluctant but caved due to not wanting to find out how Neteyam would get you back if you tried escaping. "Kiri, can you take the supplies back and thank them?" She had her hand over her mouth to try and stifle her giggles, unlike Lo'ak and Tuk who were hysterically laughing at you. You stuck your tongue out at Lo'ak attempting to try and derive his attention. But he just continued to laugh with Tuk. "Whatever." You muttered your defeated words under your breath and let Neteyam continue to spread the ointment. And you disliked every moment he found a new place on your back for the ointment to reach.
"There you go, now that wasn't too bad was it?" Your brows were still knotted as you turned your head to him. "It was torture." There was that cheeky smile again. "Awe I'm sorry, next time I'll be more careful you big baby." His hand were still on your back, they weren't as cold as before but the sting from the ointment was still seething into your skin. You rolled your eyes and gave him a nudge before standing back up ready to continue tidying up. "Try not to stretch the skin out too much." Neteyam was now up with you and his hand on your back again. "I'll be fine, I could barely feel it before." You wriggled your shoulders trying to get a feel of the wound's durability. "If you aren't careful and open again you could get a scar." In all honestly, you kinda like scars and gave a smirk when you shrugged turning away from him to pick up another item. "(Y/N)." His voice was stern and he spoke in a warning tone as you rose up and put the item back in its place. "Neteyam," you spoke back in the same tone but with less control. "Why don't you keep to the fire, I'll clean up the rest." You shook your head. "No way, it is just a small scratch." You moved away to pick up another item when he grabbed your arm and quietly spoke. "Go, sit." He had on his controlled expression that was unreadable to you but let you know he was serious. You wanted to say something back, something like 'I'm fine' or 'It's not like it'll kill me' but when he grabbed your arm and looked at his face every word in your throat just stopped. Your eyes darted along his face, he had been close to you before during knife lessons but he was never in front of you. Or looking at you directly in your eyes, he left you stunned as his eye were darting between yours too. "Neteyam, Lo'ak's trying to get the bigger proportions." Tuk's wined plea for her brother broke your gazes away from each other. His hand left you as he ventured off to go scold Lo'ak. You stayed in your spot for a moment, placing the item you had in your hand where it belong Kiri also returned home. She went to where she had been before she left and continued where she left off. You did the same, sitting by the fire again and tending to it making sure you kept it alive.
There had been a communal meal in the morning so tonight everyone was making their own meals and when you all finished making your meals you sat in a circle together. "So tell me, how did you three end up in the water?" Kiri had a small smile on her lips as she gave you three a curious look. Tuk pointed to Lo'ak in a similar way she had before. "Lo'ak was teasing me with some story about how some beast is going to come and hunt me down and eat me!" Knowing he was in trouble when Neteyam whipped his head to his brother he groaned. "I'm not the one who started wrestling." You just ate another piece of food not wanting to enter the conversation. "(Y/N) was the one who jumped onto me." You kept your eyes on your food but heard Neteyam's hair beads swing. "But you were going to tickle me, she just stopped you from doing so." And there was Tuk to the rescue. "And you were the one that threw (Y/N) into the water first." Neteyam's hand flew up as he finished chewing his food. "That's enough. It doesn't matter who started it. Let's just enjoy our food okay?" You nodded and the conversation then turned to what took Kiri so long to come back from getting supplies. She had run into Tisreya and she was eager to give her some of her mother's medicine. You personally would have done fine with regular medicine.
