' How Many More..?! '

" Erwin.. " Levi repeated in a shaky, quiet voice. But Erwin shook his head. " We need to get somewhere safe first, " he told them. " Erwin! Take your role! Please! " Hange begged. " I'm not fit for this rank! "

With a quick nod, the Commander rank was passed to Erwin in a wordless 'ceremony'. The blonde took the reins and led the group away, fending off crowds of zombies. Not that many approached, anyway. They seemed afraid of Erwin.

But that's a good thing. So long as we have Erwin, we have nothing to worry about, thought Levi.

The group continued on, until a yelp from the back of the formation made them all freeze. " Falco! " Gabi shrieked. Pained squealing was quickly drowned out by the snarling of Ymir as she rushed to defend the grabbed child.

But she was too late. Falco's body fell limp to the ground, and Colt slumped onto his knees and let out a choked sob. " Get up, " Eren ordered roughly. The warriors glared at him. But Eren didn't give up. Instead, he walked over to the grieving brother.

" Get up, " Eren growled more firmly. Colt looked up at him with a mixture of grief, pain, and anger. " How could you-- "

" Shut your mouth. " Eren interrupted. Colt shook his head. " My brother just got killed in front of me! "

" And I had to kill five of my best friends. Not to mention, I just watched my half-brother get dragged away by a zombie, " Eren retorted. " Don't you dare complain until you can say you have more trauma than that. "

Reiner shoved Eren aside and gently helped Colt to his feet. " Come on, Colt, " Reiner whispered. " At least Falco isn't suffering now. "

Colt gave a weak nod. " You're right.. "

Eren snorted and turned sharply away. " Weakness is getting to you. You're both gonna die, and it'll be soon. " He growled.

" Don't say things like that! " Annie gasped. Eren glared at her. " Don't talk to me. " He muttered darkly. Then he turned his back to everyone.

" Eren, don't be stone-hearted, " Hange murmured. Eren huffed and ignored them. " Give it up, Hange. He won't talk right now. " Levi broke in before the now Section Commander could be faced with disappointment.

Hange let out a sigh. " Okay. Sorry, Eren, " they mumbled as they turned away. Eren huffed in reply.

" If you're all done arguing, " Erwin growled through gritted teeth, " We've got to get a move on. We can't keep stopping, or we'll all die before we find safety. "

Levi nodded. " Lead on, Erwin. "

The sun was going down by the time Erwin led the group into a sheltered, abandoned building. It seemed like it must have been a school.

Erwin, Levi, and Eren checked the place through and, once they decided it was fully clear, the rest of the group inside.

" This place is disgusting.. all this dust makes me want to hurl, " Levi complained, running his hand over the dust-caked wall. He snorted in contempt as dust fluttered around him.

" Well, cleaning supplies are useless, " Hange remarked. " As if I didn't know that, four-eyes, " Levi growled. Hange threw their hands up in defeat. Levi let out a sigh.

" I know it's dirty and all, " Erwin spoke up again, " but it's all we have. "

Levi huffed. " Yeah, yeah. But it's worth at least trying to clean, right? I'm gonna suffocate in this mess. "

" Is it? It'll just get filthy again, won't it? " Ymir asked. Levi let out a snort.

" If we keep huffing and puffing and arguing, we'll never get the chance to see, " Eren snapped, reappearing from wherever he'd gone earlier. He had cleaning supplies in his hands, but he was covered in blood.

" Where the hell have you been? " Levi demanded. Eren shrugged. " Somewhere. But I almost died getting this stuff. So here. " He threw the cleaning supplies at Levi. Levi caught the supplies, his eyes widening. " You went outside for this? " He asked anxiously. Eren nodded.

" Get over here. I need to see if you got bit. " Levi ordered. Eren rolled his eyes but walked over anyway and took off his shirt.

Levi checked Eren over, then froze as he saw a fresh bite mark on Eren's upper arm. Reiner looked over and gasped. Before he could think twice, he rushed over and placed his mouth over the bite mark, quickly sucking out the infection.
