Jake POV:
Everyone at Home Tree knew of the warrior games, where each member of age of the clan would compete to see who was the best. Competitions like sparing, bow and arrow, and hunting were all ready to be played with the best of the best. I have always taken the games seriously, it's the time of year where I prove myself to be the best and fit to lead the tribe so another year to me simply means another win.
The only problem was my mother stuck me with the dreamwalker who insisted on being a part of the games and I have the distinct honor of training her. God she is annoying, I can't walk five steps without her harassing me for another lesson or something moral about the way to live life.
"But you get what I mean right, like everyone on earth just sucks the life out of the planet, but you all are different. I love everything about Pandora, even the way you kill animals-" She began to ramble again and I couldn't take another word.
"Be quiet," I said, cutting her off as the smile dropped from her face and her hands fell in disappointment.
"Sorry for talking," she scoffed and rolled her eyes. I threw my knife back into the sheath strapped across my chest and circled around the clearing. I ran my hand into the dirt making a large enough circle wrapping around both of us, she followed me with her eyes curious as to what I was drawing in the dirt as I made my finishing touches on the arena and scoreboard. I stretched back up and rubbed the dirt off my hands and onto my thighs, before looking back to her.
"Day 7," I began, "Finally we can work on hand-to-hand combat."
She crossed her arms over her chest and looked around the circle as I stepped inside of its bounds, "The only goal you have is to get me out of the circle, and you win," I told her.
"And that's all I have to do?" She asked looking down to the circle, sizing up how much force it would take to move me out.
"That's all," I said. I began to unstrap the jewelry and weapons adorned around my waist, just because I hate her doesn't mean I want to hurt her. She eyed what I was doing and quickly followed. We had removed anything sharp from our bodies as we laid our piles of things far from the circle, both intending for this fight to get physical. She was rolling out her shoulders and stretching out her arms as if she would get close enough to even touch me before I had her outside of the bounds.
I looked at her teasingly as I flashed a smile and tilted my head to the side, "Are you, ready princess?" The goal was to make her see red with rage.
She hissed at me, "Don't call me that." Success shined through my eyes as I aggravated her.
I hissed back, "Two out of three?" I smiled at her again and she smiled back.
"You're on," she said as she crouched to the ground and I mimicked the move.
Suddenly she launched at me, making a rookie mistake to make the first move. She attempted to wrap her arms around me and roll me out of the circle, again a rookie move. She was able to wrap her arms around me but as for rolling me out of the circle she would need to try a lot harder. I reached my back foot up and slammed my heel down on her toes, making her hiss in pain as she loosened her grip on me. I let out a cocky laugh as I kicked her legs out from under her, watching her ass crash land onto the dirt.
"Ahhh!" She let out a frustrated yell as she picked herself up and we got back into position. We paced in a circle around each other, both hunched over and staring at our bodies.
"Let's dance," I said, taunting her and again luring her into making the first move against me. She cocked her head and lunged at me attempting to yank my braid and pull me out of the circle, clearly getting desperate. I grabbed her wrist and yanked her against me.
