Is he blushing? You think he's blushing. "Okay," you manage. "Right."
"Yeah," Levi echoes. There's a pause, and then with what seems like some difficulty, he detangles his fingers from yours and turns away. You stand in place, feeling rather clueless, as Levi heads into the bathroom and shuts the door.
What just... what? You're lost.
You stare at the door for another thirty seconds. Did he change his mind? Is he starting to regret it? Your anxiety is starting to spike as your stupid, stupid brain starts to come up with some worst case scenarios. You purse your lips and scrunch your eyes shut for a moment, trying to shut off the bad thoughts that are starting to overwhelm you.
In an effort to distract yourself from Levi's sudden retraction, you move to the bed and collapse into it, curling up under the blankets and grabbing your phone. Did you misread this? Are you going crazy? For the love, you're thinking too much.
The door to the bathroom opens and you have to physically restrain yourself from sitting up immediately. You hear him move to the dresser, pulling out something that looks like a sweater. You keep your eyes on your phone, trying not to look at him too much, but your gaze can't help but flicker to him as he sits down on his side of the bed, sweater in his lap.
For a moment, he's quiet. Then, he murmurs, "I'm sorry."
You sit up. Apology, okay, but for what? "For?" you ask quietly.
"The hot tub," Levi says, and you stiffen up. "When we were... well, you definitely felt..."
He can't get the words out, but you piece it together. Felt? You glance at him and see the way he's looking away, the sweater he's holding is folded in front of his crotch, and... yeah. He's not apologizing for the whole intense make out thing, but for getting hard. Is that why he broke off from the two of you kissing just minutes ago?
He's apologizing for having a reaction to you? Is he kidding? "It's fine," you say. He's still not looking at you. "Seriously, it is. It's a compliment."
Now, he looks at you. "It's a compliment?" Levi asks dryly. "That I can't control my own body?"
"No, but, like..." you trail off, trying to figure out how to describe it. "It's a compliment because, well... it means I can get that from guys," you say with a weak shrug.
He stares at you blankly.
"What?" you stammer, crossing your arms.
"You don't think you're capable of getting a guy hard," he says.
Levi's blunt statement makes your face flush with heat, and now it's your turn to look away. "It's not that I-" you cut yourself off, embarrassed. "I can, but it's been a while, and you know, it's nice to just..." you trail off once again. "Okay, well, I know I can, but it's- it's still a compliment, and, you know, everyone's attracted to different kinds of people, so I don't know if I'm-"
"Ang," Levi interrupts, "have you seen yourself?"
Your mouth dries. "Yes?" you manage weakly.
He scoffs, pulling his sweater over his head. "Apparently not, if you don't think you're attractive."
God, it feels like your face is on fire. You stare at him, lips parted, heat flushing your face, but he's not even looking at you. He's still facing away. You try to figure out what to say next, but nothing is coming to mind. "Thank you," you get out, your voice quieter than you'd like.
He finally looks to you. His ears are red. "We should sleep," Levi murmurs.
"Right," you agree, still feeling rather frazzled.
