"Okay," you say.

"That's fine with you?" he asks. "We'd be sharing a bed. Don't want your own?"

"Nothing different than what we've been doing for the past week," you say quietly, shrugging. "I'm fine with it if you are."

Levi nods, and he goes back to his call. "We'll take it."

We'll take it. Giddiness runs through you. You're escaping your parents, going into the city, and staying in a hotel with Levi. Sharing a bed with Levi. No parents, no family, no need for fake dating- but you're still sharing a bed.

God, if the two of you don't finally get over yourselves and say fuck it tonight, you're going to lose your mind. There's no way you come out of this without finally giving in and saying screw it to the fake part of this fake dating scenario.

Levi calls your name, and you turn back to him. "How many nights did you want to stay?" he asks.

There's an option that's more than one? "Up to you," you say- your default response.

"I'm asking you," Levi emphasizes. "It's up to you."

"You're the one paying for it."

"So you'd be open to more than one."

Hell, would you ever. "Yes, I would, but it's up to you," you insist softly. "You're the one paying. So it's whatever you want to do."

Levi's eyes are locked on you. You watch as he brings the phone back to his ear and says, all while still holding your gaze, "we'll take three nights. Doesn't matter how much it costs."

Your heart skips a beat in your chest. Three nights? Heat rushes to your cheeks as you force a quick smile and turn back to your bag, trying to go back to packing.

A few minutes later, Levi joins you at the dresser. "We're all set," he tells you. "It's a bit of a drive, but to get from there back to school will take maybe an hour, probably less."

"How far?"

"Four hours. Could've gotten one closer, but weather's supposed to be nasty in the first few days of January and today looks clear. Would rather drive more today and less on the nastier days."

You nod along; it makes sense. Then, you frown. What's the date today? "Is it the 31st?" you ask, and Levi nods. "New Year's Eve."

"Crept up on us," Levi says with a nod. "Need help?"

"I think I'm about good," you say, patting your suitcase. "How do we... how do we escape? Get out of here?"

"Don't want to explain this to your parents?"

"Not in the slightest."

He shrugs. "Might need some outside help."

His words make you smile. "You make it sound like we're in prison, needing outside help. What's next, waiting for the changing of the guard?"

"We're not in prison?" Levi asks dryly.

You roll your eyes. "Okay, maybe. Kind of. Prison break time." You pause. "What'd you mean by outside help?"

He glances at your suitcase, then at his. "Your cousins."

"Get them to get our suitcases out," you say, nodding along. An idea comes to you and you straighten up. "Or maybe distract everyone so we can sneak out."

"Text them. I'll pack."

You beam at him, grateful, and you squeeze his arm as you rise to your feet and grab your phone from the nightstand. You've been sleeping for a while, so you've got a bunch: more from Hange, a few from your mother asking to speak with you, and your group chat with your cousins is flooded with texts.
