"You're going out?" he hears your mother call, looking to him, frowning. Like she's concerned about him going into the snowstorm, when that same concern couldn't be found for her own daughter.
Suddenly, he doesn't care what the hell your family thinks of him. "It's plain as damn day that she's adopted," Levi snaps.
He grabs an extra scarf and throws himself out into the snowstorm.
.
Hm. It's not that cold anymore.
Somewhere in the back of your mind, you're well aware that hypothermia is setting in. You're exhausted, even though you haven't really been exerting yourself much. You're shivering way too much. And you're tired, like you could fall asleep right here and now in the snow.
It'd be so easy to fall asleep. You're trying damn hard not to, but...
It starts to settle in that if you fall asleep, you'll probably die. You'll die out here in the woods, your last memory being a blanket of white, and your last conversation being an argument with your mother. That's pretty shitty.
Your parents would mourn you, sure, but they'd mourn their version of you. Did they ever really try to get to know you? Ask about your hobbies? What kind of friends you made at school- not that you ever really made any. Your cousins would be upset, yes- you love Sasha, Hitch, Ymir, and Jean, and they can tease you all they want, but you know they love you too.
Levi. Fuck, you can't do that to Levi. Leave him to deal with your family without you? No better form of torture.
Is that seriously your first concern? "Ha," you mutter to yourself. "Idiot."
You wonder what Levi's doing now. Maybe still in your room, avoiding the rest of your family until you come back. Maybe he's locked himself in the bathroom and decided to have a bath. Maybe he's gotten into his car and left, abandoning you here.
Hm. You wouldn't like it if he did that. You've grown more attached to him than you expected. It's scary, really, how fast you've developed feelings for him. It should feel unnatural, but it really doesn't. The more you talk to him, bicker with him, kiss him- the harder you fall. Fuck, these feelings are ridiculous.
Your eyes flutter shut. The butterflies are undeniable- just thinking about him has your stomach crawling. Fucking hell.
Alright. You need to get back- get to Levi. You can't stay out here.
"Levi," you mumble. It's really cold. You're trying to move your legs, but nothing's really cooperating with you. Why not? Why...
You can do it. You just need to focus, just need to...
Hm.
You're moments away from losing consciousness when you think you hear someone say your name.
It feels like your eyelids have frozen shut, but you manage to blink a few times and successfully open your eyes. It takes a second for your vision to clear, but nothing has changed- it's just a lot of white, white, and more white. Were you hallucinating? Is that a symptom of hypothermia?
Then, Levi appears in your line of sight.
And now you're convinced you're hallucinating. Because there's no way that's Levi coming over the hill, no way. It's a hallucination that's coming towards you, settling down in front of you, reaching for you...
The hallucination is saying something, and then he reaches out and his gloved hand touches the side of your face.
Shit. It's real- he's real. It's Levi.
