You sigh. "Mom wants my help with breakfast," you mutter.
Levi's fingers continue drawing shapes through your hair. "Now?"
You shoot her a quick text- now?- and she gets back to you almost immediately- I did say breakfast and not lunch, yes? "Yeah," you grumble, turning your phone off. "Now."
"Have I mentioned that I don't like your mother?"
"Not nearly enough."
"I don't like her."
"Really? Tell me more."
Levi hums, and after you count to three in your head, you pull yourself out of Levi's arms. His fingertips drag across your skin until you're out of reach, and you wander over to the dresser, cold again. You pull on a sweater and glance back at Levi, who's sitting up, blanket pooled around his hips.
You have so much you want to say but you don't know how to say any of it. So many questions and no answers. "Do you..." you trail off. "Do you want anything? While I'm up?"
"Anything?" Levi asks, his eyes meeting yours.
Your lips quirk up slightly. "Sure. Anything."
He tilts his head. "Can you come back from hanging out with your mother in a good mood?"
Now, you grin. "You're asking a lot of me."
"I'm aware. Can you manage it?"
You roll your eyes. "The things I do for you, Levi Ackerman."
He smirks. "Come back soon."
"I will."
Feeling a bit better, you slip out of the room, closing the door gently behind you. You stand there for a moment, hand still on the door knob, smiling to yourself. So it wasn't all a dream? That actually happened? And he doesn't hate you, or regret it, or...
Questions that need answers, but you think you're allowed to feel good about it. You and Levi are in a good place right now: you'll go deal with your mom, then come back, and... you smile just thinking about it. Alright, let's make this fast.
With your head held high, you make your way down the hall and towards the kitchen. When you pass one of the living areas, you see all your younger cousins crammed onto one of the couches, watching a cartoon. With them are Historia and Ymir, who wave at you as you go by. "Headed to the kitchen?" Ymir asks, and you nod. "Fantastic, take these."
She holds out a stack of plates, piled with silverware, and you roll your eyes as you take the stack from her. "Already ate?" you ask.
"Yeah, but we're cool with seconds. Right, gang?" Ymir says, and there's a hearty cheer from the kids. "Thanks, cuz, you're the best. Your mom's in a good mood, by the way."
"She is?" you ask, frowning. "That's a rarity."
"It's kind of scary," one of your younger cousins, Kaya, supplies.
You force a smile. "Don't worry, I'll go say hi and turn that around."
Historia sighs. "It won't be that bad."
"Everyone say bye," Ymir demands, and there's a chorus of goodbyes as you head towards the kitchen with a mountain of dishes in your arms. You nearly stumble as you round a corner, but fortunately, you make it to the kitchen in one piece.
When you enter, you see your mother on the far side of the kitchen near the stove. You can smell something cooking. "Oh, look who got up!" your mother chirps. "You are capable of getting up before ten in the morning!"
