Of course you do. You've invested enough time into this already. "Yes," you say, "but it's up to you, so-"

"Then I'll see you on Christmas Eve," Levi says. "I'll text you when I'm coming to pick you up."

And then he's gone, a wave of cold air entering the lobby before he closes the door behind him.

You stand there for a moment, digesting the conversation. Then, you sigh, turn around, and head back up the stairs to face your roommate, whom you're sure is about to harass you until a generous hour of the morning.

.

Hange leaves the next day to head home for the holidays. Levi arrives on December 24th in the late afternoon to pick you up.

Hange, to their credit, has been more excited about this than both you and Levi combined. The more you think about it, the more you doubt this whole thing, and although Hange has been... thorough in picking at your story and picking out details you and Levi might be missing, they're quite enthusiastic about this whole thing.

So much so that they've been on the phone with you for ten minutes while you wait in the lobby for Levi to arrive, quizzing you and ranting about their blog and keeping you distracted from your anxiety. You actually don't mind: you need to keep your mind off of this, and Hange is a bunch of nonstop chatter.

For example, their current debate. "Okay, but it can't make any sense that the egg didn't come first," Hange is saying. "Because how could the chicken just appear? It needs to come from the egg! So the egg has to come first!"

"But where'd the egg come from?" you ask, glancing out the main doors. Still no Levi.

"See, you'd really get along with Moblit, because he thinks the chicken came first too. But I don't see how that's physically possible!"

You roll your eyes. "I never said that. I don't know which came first."

"Come on, you're the smart one!" You roll your eyes again, and Hange quips, "I know you're rolling your eyes right now!"

"I just don't care."

"You should! This is a riveting discussion that has kept the minds of the mindless folks busy!"

"...Minds of the mindless?"

"You know what I mean!"

Your phone buzzes in your hand, and you pull your phone away from your ear while Hange chatters on. Sure enough, it's a text from Levi.

Levi (16:37): parked down the street

"Levi's here," you say, interrupting Hange's chatter.

They squeal so loudly that you need to pull your phone away from your ear. "Okay, keep me updated! Remember: be nice to his parents, be charming, talk him up, kiss him if you think someone's watching, hold his hand or link arms when you're near him-"

"Hange," you say with a roll of your eyes, shouldering your travel bag as you head towards the door.

"Remember, even if his parents offer you a guest bedroom, you should stay with him," Hange continues. "Call him babe every now and then."

"I'm not doing that."

"Call him honey then. Or sweetheart! Something cheesy and gross. This is so great, Angel," they coo. "Oh, don't roll your eyes at me. This is great content for my blog-"

"Of course," you say, eyes finding Levi's car down the street. The cold stings your face but you know it's only temporary. "You're getting no updates from me."
