AMAL.

A sharp pain jolted me out of my sleep. The pain came from my hip area. I rubbed there and immediately stood up. I came on facial contact with Huzaifa whose hand stretched a phone out to me. I quietly collected it and noticed it was an ongoing call. MAMALEE. Was the name on the screen. I immediately place it on my ear.

" Assalamualaikum mummy." I greeted her as I stood on my heels.

" How are you?" She asked me in a neutral voice that I can't find any emotion to attach it to.

" Am fine mummy." I replied trying to fake an enthusiasm which failed cause there wasn't.

" I mean how is your foot." She said. I was shocked. She knew. I looked at my foot and then Huzaifa, whose attention wasn't even here.

" It's fine Alhamdallah mummy." I replied as my heels  got tired of taking all my weight.

" What happened?" She inquired like a pro questioner she was.

" No I just stepped on some broken glass chars, but it's fine now." I said and gave a fake smile which I know she can't see.

" Hafeez sent the footage to me, so tell your tale to someone else." She said and I was surprised. I glanced around the house hoping to see a camera but there's none in sight that I could see.

" Are you done searching for the camera?" She asked and finally I thought this woman is using witchery to see us.

" Em.m.m.m.m.m mummy it's not like that." I said as I tried to explain even though I don't know why cause right now am not at fault.

" Explain what exactly, the fact you didn't inform me he let you sleep in the living room or the fact he pushed you on broken glass chars. Explain what. Have I ever maltreated you? Why didn't you call me immediately so I could discipline him." She asked over the phone. Someone one you can't even discipline at home. How the hell do you expect me to expect you to be able to discipline him over the phone. Funny indeed.

" Mummy it's not like..." She immediately interrupted me.

" It's not like what. You seem to forget I do have footage camera over there abi. Answer me." She said in a strict tone, making me wonder who is really at fault.

" That's enough." Huzaifa said and collected the phone from me. He cleaned it on his Jalabiya. Before hanging up. What a nice attitude to someone who gave birth to you.

He hissed and left. I stood in the middle of the room. I haven't brushed since last night.

Ding.

My phone beeped and vibrate, indicating a message came in.

" Pack your things to that room now."__ Mamalee.

That was the message.  I wanted to hiss. I prefer sleeping in this sitting room all my life than to go and stay in the room with him. Seconds later, am dragging my box upstairs toward the room.
