She cried when she got home. She hurt so much. Physically and emotionally. She hated the hurt, and she wanted it to stop. Maya knew she had to get her mind off of things and she got an idea. Change. Maya thought I'm going to die anyways so to hell with being nice and trying to cater to everyone. She'd be cold, so she wouldn't be the one getting hurt.

Hawk watched as Maya walked into school, as did everyone else, although everyone had their reasons. Maybe it was the pink stripes in her hair, maybe it was her grey crop top with a white tank top and ripped jeans, maybe it was the fact she was Miguel's sister but despite those reasons, she walked as if no one was looking at her.

When Maya opened her locker she was greeted with red roses in a bunch falling out. She sighed, looking at the note on the side.

I'm sorry -Eli

The necklace sat idly on her chest beneath her shirt, she rolled her eyes, walking and throwing it in the trash. When she went back to her locker there was an envelope, except it wasn't from Hawk. It was from Demetri. Maya sighed, stuffing it into her backpack. She doubted she would read it.

Maya walked to her classroom, remembering that Miguel wouldn't be sitting next to her. Everything reminded her of Miguel. She missed him, but she never thought she would. She always thought he'd be there, always.

"Oh, Maya, I've moved your seats since you are last here." The teacher flashed her a smile, Maya knew all of the teachers would be overly nice to her. Maya followed her teacher, she was close to the end of the table, second to last. "And don't worry, Miguel will seat next to you when he comes back." The teacher patted her shoulder, walking to the front of the room. Maya sat in her seat, the boy she sat by was one that made fun of Miguel when he first came to the school.

Suddenly, a boy sat his bag down and then sat in Miguel's seat but his backpack was in the seat to his right. What was he doing?

"So, Maya, since you and Hawk aren't a thing anymore do you think we could get together?" Maya smiled slowly, the boy wasn't terrible looking. Although he looked like every other high school boy. Brown curly short hair, hazel eyes, pretty tall, and a pretty good build.

"Maybe," Maya smirked, shrugging a bit. Suddenly, the boy was hit by a pencil case.

"What the hell, man?!" Maya quickly turned around, seeing Hawk glare at the boy. She knew Hawk was in her class, but he was right behind her and she hadn't noticed. "Y'all ain't together anymore." Maya looked forward, it still stung to not be with Hawk, but she had to remind herself he was an asshole. Eli wasn't there anymore, but there was a point in time when she could still see him in Hawk but he seemed to be forever gone. She couldn't sit around and wait for him to come back.

But there was a voice in her head that reminded her of Demetri's speech. Did he ever love her at all? Was it all a dare? Demetri wouldn't lie about something like that, but it didn't seem like Eli would do something like that either.

Maya sat in the hospital room, she had pulled up a chair to the side of Miguel's bed and laid her head on the side of his bed. At any moment she hoped she'd hear his voice or see him move on his own. When Maya heard shuffling it caused her to look up, and when she did, she saw Johnny. She hadn't seen him since before the school fight and she didn't know how to feel.

He taught Miguel karate if he wasn't into karate he wouldn't be here, but then again, without karate Miguel would be miserable. Maya didn't know how to feel. She missed Johnny but he hadn't come to see Miguel, she almost felt betrayed. Miguel was his first student, Miguel saw him as his dad, and Maya saw him as her dad. Why didn't he care enough to see them?

"Little Diaz." He sighed, he was bruised beneath his eyes and he looked like he hadn't slept in days.

"Do you wanna talk to him?" Maya asked, her voice wobbling a bit. Johnny didn't say anything, she knew he wouldn't admit that he wanted to talk to him, but Maya stood and left the room. She sat in the seats outside of the room, scrolling through her phone until a message popped up on her phone.

???:is there practice today?

It was from the group chat they had for Cobra Kai. Everyone else's names were still labeled except for the one who just texted. She knew who it was. Hawk. She'd blocked him and Demetri on everything. She deleted all of their photos, even the ones where she blurred Hawk out so no one knew it was him so she could post them on her Instagram. She pressed 'leave group', knowing she could never be a Cobra again. She wasn't even sure she would do karate ever again. Not unless Johnny taught again.

The next day Maya gathered some money, she did the math and everything, so she could pay off her last month's payment to Cobra Kai. Her own and Miguel's. She dreaded going to Cobra Kai's dojo, but she still did. Even though there was practice, and even though Hawk would most likely be there.

She walked through the doors, the Cobra's seemed to just be talking before practice. Maya could feel Hawk's eyes on her as she walked inside, she couldn't see Kreese anywhere.

"Ms. Diaz." Maya looked over, Kreese walking towards her. It was hard for Hawk to just stand there and stare at her. To not run up to her and beg for forgiveness, to try anything and everything to get her back. "What brings you back?"

"I'm here to give you the money me and Miguel owed for karate practice." Maya pulled out an envelope and handed it to him.

"Well thank you, we appreciate it." Kreese nodded, smiling a bit.

"As for me, I'm not in Cobra Kai anymore, as for Miguel, it's up to him." Maya spun on her heel and walked away, climbing back into her car. Maya needed someone, anyone, to talk to. Maya wanted to talk to Johnny, but she didn't reach out. Her mom told her not to.

Maya seemed to go only three places. The hospital, her home, and school. She was headed back to the hospital, now. She picked up food for her mom and Ya-Ya on the way, she knew they both hated hospital food. As they all ate, sharing stories about Miguel from when he was younger. When his heart rate started to race, they were all rushed out of the room.

Maya watched through a window, praying to God he wouldn't die, as the doctors hooked him to multiple things. Maya's heart seemed to race with Miguel's but it seemed to steady as she saw his eyes come open. He was alive and awake.
