Paige snuck into the hospital, what she was doing was wrong but she heard they were going into surgery and wanted to see them before it.

~

Entering the room, there were no doctors, no cops or his dads in sight.
But there her friend was laying in bed, their mouth is still stitched and she couldn't believe their hand was gone.
"I'm so sorry. . . I let you go alone. . ."
Paige couldn't express how stupid she was to let them go to a place where homeless people had gone missing?!
How dumb is she?!
Looking at the side table, she noticed in a plastic bag was a. . . Puppet?
One of this hand puppets kids would play with or a parent would use to entertain their kid.
She picked up the bag, the Puppet had blue wooly hair, a T-Shirt of that old Puppet Show Logo.
Why was this here, maybe it was something to do with the blood at the bottom of it.
"!"
Paige ducked behind a curtain, once hearing a door and dropped the Puppet back before she was seen.
"The surgery. . . It will save their life right?"
"Of course, once we remove the mouth stitches it will take time to heal but with possible stolen vocal cords they'll never speak again as the arm will be arriving in the afternoon."
Paige heard them wheeling the bed out of the room, she slowly peaking out and watched their dads leave the room and suddenly she was alone.
. . .
She stood there, she held her cross necklace and prayed for God to let them be okay.
Let the surgery go well.

In the surgery, the expert was slowly cutting the threads that sealed their mouth shut and was careful to undo each one and everyone in the room was ready as they knew it was about to be a blood bath as soon as the threads began to be pulled out.
"Any idea they would steal vocal cords?"
"Either to keep them quiet or to sell them, though those are the only organs which is unusual since black markets are usually selling kidneys."
The Fathers watched from the window, the nurse looked at one of them,"Uhm, I don't mean to pry. . . But he is?", "Adopted?", the nurse nods, the father shook his head to sign that it was fine to ask,"Their mother passed when they were young, I remarried and my husband who adopted them.", the nurse nods, writing that down as she just wanted to make sure they were legal guardians.

~

The surgery thankfully was successful, the stitches were removed but now there was a bandage wrapped around their mouth, a breathing tube up their nose to help them breath and the arm was ready.
It was just chopping off. . . The infected skin, luckily it didn't spread fast and they could catch it immediately.
"How much?"
Their father spoke with the doctor ready to wire money while his dad rested his hand on their child's head.
. . .
18.
They were turning 18 soon. . .
He knew their child was safe now, but he wanted to know the sick fuck that did this to their child.

That night Paige jogged down the street, a bag over her shoulder as she came to the alleyway to see Marcus ready.
"Are you sure Paige, we could only get in more trouble."
"It's either that, or we wait for us to be proclaimed Guilty."
Marcus nods.
So they walked down the alley with their hoods up and weapons in their hands.
