I walk down the street and to the grocery store. I grab a basket and the items I need.
The elder man who checks me out, I watched his grandfather grow up.
That is the strangest thing.
I smile and leave with my bags. I walk down the street with my head down.
All of a sudden I hear that all too familiar voice.
"There you are!" It yells.
I look over to see the god I love jump the guard rail.
A brunette girl jumps and pushes him out of the way and gets hit by the bus.
I watch the scene play out in front of me, unable to move.
And yet he never noticed me.
Tears water my eyes and I finally manage to run home.
I drop the bags in the kitchen and collapse against the fridge. I cry loudly.
All the sadness I've held in for centuries now flooding out.
I fall onto my side and pass out.

When I wake up I put away my groceries and try processing what happened.
Yato is still alive.
A brunette girl saved him from a bus and became a halfling.
And here I am, his mother, crying in agony because he left me.
Where did he go? Why didn't he say goodbye?
I sigh and walk to my room.
My bedroom is lit by moonlight.
I strip so I'm only in my panties, get into bed, and fall asleep.
My dreams are haunted by memories of the past.
And when I woke up I remembered they were just memories.

Obviously I am hated.
No matter where I go I see them together.
Yato and this Hiyori girl.
He promised her he would fix her condition.
Even I know he won't.
He doesn't know how. He now wears a hideous track suit.
Why can't he wear the kimono I made and cleaned for him?
It's like he's forgotten his past entirely.
I clench my fists.

When he gets Yukine I can't help but think he's the cutest thing ever.
He forces Yato to be more mature.
Or at least I hoped he would; he used to be. Now he's so childish and reckless.
He is bringing disaster upon himself.
That damn Hiyori girl thinks she can waltz into their life and be their glue.
That was supposed to be my job.
I was supposed to be in his life, that's what he promised.
Is being alive for centuries what they consider being in his life?! How am I even still alive, like why?

Today is a beautiful spring day.
The breeze blows my hair all over and the sun shines wonderfully.
The blossoms blow around on the ground around my feet.
Nothing could bring me down.
In fact, everything was going great.
I walk through the park and stop on the bridge. I lean over and look down at the water.
Suddenly a body rams into mine and pushes me into the water.
I swim up and gasp for breath.
A large hand grabs my arm and pulls me out.
I lean on all fours and cough out water.
"Are you ok? I'm sorry."
It was that voice again.
The one I love and created.

I slowly look up and both our eyes widen.
Those ocean blue eyes that stop my heart; the plum hair I used to play with; and those precious lips that once touched mine.
"Yato are you ok? Did you kill the phantom?" Hiyori asks running over.
"Yaboku," I whisper.
He whispers my name kneeling to my level.
Water drips from my bangs and lands on my hands.
He takes my hands in his as he sits me onto my knees. He moves his hands to my cheeks.
I would've blushed any other time.
He moves my hair away and looks me dead in the eyes.
Tears slowly start to stream down his cheeks.
"Yato," Hiyori whispers taking a step closer.

"I thought you were dead! How are you still alive?" The god asks shaking me slightly.
"You promised I would always be in your life. You left me. Why?" I ask quietly instead of answering him.
He finally looks down. "They took me away. They made me do things." He whispers quickly turning his gaze to the side.
I put my hand on his cheek and make him look at me.
He looks into my eyes once again.
"Do you want to break your promise?" I ask softly.

"The only thing keeping her alive is that promise." Kazuma comments walking over with Bisha close behind. "That kiss sealed her fate."
"She created you Yaboku, and now you are what's keeping her alive," Bisha adds.
Yato and I look from the god and her regalia to each other.
"Can someone tell me what's going on?!" Hiyori yells.
I growl and glare at her.
"Yato was born from this girl's wish." Kazuma answers.
"But wouldn't that make her like centuries old? How is she still alive?" Hiyori questions.
"When Yato promised to keep her in his life he kissed her. That sealed their fates together. She will live for as long as he does. Her knowledge and memory of Yato is what keeps him alive." Bisha explains.
