Red resumed his journey to complete the Pokédex, while I'd taken to traveling. Psyduck had evolved and I'd added more pokemon to my team.

After long enough, I went back to pallet town. I figured I'd pay a visit to my friends and professor oak. It had been some time, I was excited to see them again.

When I walked in, everything was strangely quiet. "Red? Blue? Professor oak?" I called, venusaur following me as I looked around.

A lab assistant approached me. "Oh, I thought someone had broken in." The man scratched his neck. "It's okay, do you know where professor oak is?" I asked.

---

I'd rushed to oak and blue's house, knocking on blue's room door. "Come in." Oak said, and I carefully opened the door.

The sight before me made me panic

Blue lay bandaged in bed, head bandaged, arm in a sling, all the works. Most of his body was bandaged. I walked over, and his eyes cracked open.

"There you are... how have you been... princess?" Blue's voice was raspy. "Blue, what happend to you?!" I breathed, fretting over him.

"Don't worry about me.. we both know how strong I am." Blue bragged, even in bandages. "Care to lay with me?" I looked at him, baffled.

"You're about as bandaged as a mummy, I don't think that's a good idea." I retorted. "Awe come on, are you gonna deny a poor, injured trainer's request?" He quipped.

"Ugh, you're insufferable sometimes." I huffed, climbing onto the bed to lay next to him. I was careful to avoid his injuries, placing myself so he wouldn't be hurting more than he already was.

His good arm tugged me closer, pulling the blanket up onto me as well. "If this is what I get for being scuffed up, I should battle stuff like that more often." He said, face burying into the spot between me head and shoulder.

"If you get hurt like this again you're gonna take years off my life, blue." I gently scolded him.

Blue had fallen asleep, head tucked into my neck as I talked with professor oak. Suddenly blue's door slammed open, revealing a panicked red.

"Can you keep it down? My head's gonna split in two." Blue groaned at red, pushing his face against me as if to block out the sound. I carded my fingers through his hair softly, feeling him relax.

"Blue, what happened?" Red asked. "I went to see what everyone was talking about in cerulean cave.." blue admitted. "Blastoise got tossed right on top of me."

At the look on red's face, I frowned. "Red, it doesn't sound like a good idea to go in there." He didn't listen, I sighed. "If you're right, I've gotta prepare!" Red ran off.

I watched him in disdain. "He's not the brightest, is he?" Blue quipped. I looked down at the male that lay on my torso, using me like a pillow. "You tried to fight it too." I huffed.

I bit my lip, knowing I'd have to keep red from getting himself hurt like blue.

---

I left when blue fell asleep, carefully sliding from his bed before running to the mart. Stocking up, I looked to my trio of Pokémon. "This can go horribly, or we'll get out alive. Either way, here we go I guess."

I walked into cerulean cave, venusaur tailing me with it's vines around my wrist. The cavern ceiling loomed above, but we continued on.

When we'd gotten far enough, we encountered something strange. A bipedal Pokémon, skin a lilac shade as it's tail waved behind it. It hovered above the ground, staring down at us.

I sucked in a breath, before hearing a voice.

"𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙚?"

My head snapped up. The Pokémon's eyes glowed blue, the sign of a powerful psychic type. "You can speak?" I asked.

"𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣?"

I stood still for a moment, thinking. "Then it makes my job easier, if you'll listen." I started.

"𝙜𝙤 𝙤𝙣."

"I know you don't like people approaching. I'm not here to catch you, I'm here to talk." I kneeled. "I promise." At the silence, I continued. "This cave isn't very isolated, it's likely other trainers will hear about you and come to fight for your capture."

"𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙝𝙤𝙬?" The powerful Pokémon eyes me in suspicion.

"Because my friend plans on coming to challenge you, he intends to capture you." I said. "I had to come here before him."

"𝙬𝙝𝙮, 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚?" It scoffed telepathically. I shook my head. "I have no interest in catching you." I said.

"𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚?"

I sat still for a moment, before looking up to the Pokémon floating before me. "I'm here to keep my friend from being hurt. He's rather focused on catching Pokémon, but he doesn't mistreat them. He doesn't deserve to be hurt, I can't just let it happen."

The powerful Pokémon landed before me, standing tall.

It's eyes glowed, fixed on venusaur. The two seemed to communicate for a while, before it's gaze returned to me.

"𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧." It's words made me smile. "𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚."

"Can I ask you something?" I mused. "Ive never heard of a Pokémon like you before... where did you come from?"

For a moment, there was silence.

"𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣." It stated. "𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙣, 𝙄 𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝." My eyes widened, venusaur let out a cry.

"I'm sorry, you didn't deserve that."

It stood in silence, before echoing footsteps made my eyes widen. I turned around to see a familiar brunette, pokéball in hand.

"Red?"
