Summary:

Review:
The novel is a good read but somehow I keep getting sleepy when reading this novel. Despite politic theme, it's more focused on MC and ML love story. The politic is an add on for the drama. The disappoint point is the enemies die too fast. MC and ML are smart and have power but they still fell to trap and not perfect.
MC was 8 yo when she was kidnapped by a sect and about to be drown as sacrifice. ML who is a prince, saved her along with the other children. MC fell in love with ML. ML is the favored prince by emperor, he was sent to war on border when emperor died. The eldest prince succeed the throne while he killed ML. ML fell off the cliff and suffered heavy injury, he stayed in northern for 6 years. He then went back to capital, MC become get close to him and said she will assist him for the throne. ML at first reject MC, he doesn't want MC and her family got entangled with him. MC is from a powerful family, she is the matriarch, her parent went into seclusion and left the family to MC and her brothers.
MC become matriarch so she can help ML. MC eldest brother is loyal to the emperor and dislike ML. MC tried to persuade him. MC twin brother accept ML because he know the news that current emperor may not a legit heir to the throne. Rumor said ML should be the emperor but current emperor fake the decree and succeed the throne. Current emperor is wanton and selfish so the country suffered a lot.
MC scheme a lot and marry ML. ML began to indulge MC. ML has a female cousin from his mother side who love ML. She then betray ML in order to get rid MC, she told information to the emperor resulting a lot of people died and MC almost died with her child. ML got furious and plan to kill her but MC prevent him since it may make ML and his uncle family fall out. ML uncle is a general on the border, MC is afraid he will rebel if ML killed the cousin. MC swapped the decree and married off the cousin to a scum proton prince. ML uncle learn the truth that his daughter tried to kill MC, he abandoned his daughter. MC and ML have a son.
