6: Set it Up

"I know," I held her hand on my face before saying another goodbye and connecting with Jake again. He once again took my hand in his in front of the entire village and we began the quick walk.

"So...have the girls been all over you?" I teased him as I swung our hands.

He let out a little shrug, "Nah, they're all fucking annoying," we both broke out into laughter and I turned to look at him as he was already looking at me.

"What a shame," I said smiling.

"Yeah, it sucks," He said also smiling at me, and quickly glancing at my lips and then glancing away in hopes I didn't see it. Of course, I did. It was surprising, to say the least. I stopped in front of my canopy as our hands were still locked together and he was looking at them while rubbing his thumb mine.

"You know, I had fun today," He said, beating me to the punch as I smiled.

"Yeah, me too," I said, also looking at where our hands were connected. There was a long pause where we were just soaking in each other's company, the way he just breathed pressed down on my heart and butterflies erupted as he grabbed my other hand and just started staring at me. 

I met his gaze after a few moments and began to notice the things about him I hadn't before, like the rim of green around his yellow eyes, and how he has two beads on his knife holder one for him and his dead brother. The way he smells when he is close enough to whisper in my ear. How he tilts his head whenever he tries to get a rise out of me and the way his lips curve down when he's thinking hard about something. I was staring at his lips now, for a little too long and he began to take notice as I saw his lips curve into a smile. I tried to dart my eyes away but it was too late.

"See something you like," He smirked and did that stupid head tilt.

I stammered and pulled my hands out from his, "Very funny Jake," I shook my head, "very funny."

"Okay, well I'm going to go to bed," I said trying to escape from the feelings that were bubbling in my stomach. I walked backward slowly into my room, wondering if he would follow. Hoping he would follow I suppose. 

"Wait-" he called out, and I looked back at him, "I hate to do this but my stupid friend, you know him, Tak?" He questioned and I nodded, the name sounded familiar. They were notorious best friends who were known to be bachelors.

"Yeah, I know Tak," He had weirdly never made a move on me, not that I would've gone near that.

"Well," Jake began, "we kinda are roommates and I told him he could have the room tonight. You know how he is with girls and stuff." 

He shyly glanced up at me. "So anyway, I don't have a place to sleep. Could I sleep here with you?" He asked. I was stunned, in disbelief, was he serious?

"Are you-um-serious?" I asked unsure if he was pranking me, he has a knack for embarrassing me.

"As embarrassing as it is, yes," He said and let out a charming laugh.

"Fine," I said and stepped aside letting him under the canopy. He ducked underneath since he was so tall and began to start touching every single I own.

"Cute, Cute. Pretty. Mmmhmm," He was judging the different vases and jewelry in my collection.

"If you drop one I'll kill you," I laughed with him again.

"Fine. I'll stop," He said, suddenly dropping his hand from the shelves and turning towards me, I was tackled into the bed. He started to tickle and poke my stomach as I let out mangled laughs, and pleas for him to stop.
