Early/Late Fall

Once and twice
Watch me fall,
I seem to stumble down this empty hall,
"Forward"
But I can't move my own body.
"Obey" They all say,
"Do as I tell you"
You are asking what can't be accomplished of me.
Too fast, too slow
Too big, too small
Too early, too late

To this early/late fall,
Once met, Once lost
Friends
Gone
1
Once 2,
Fell to rise,
But only 1 rose,
Deep sleep in Late fall
T'was friends in the Early
Laid to rest
One in Suffering
Unacknowledged
Other remembered
One cared for after death,
The other,  punished.
The pulled strings of life
Altered and cut.
Not to the correct length
Too young, too small
Unplanned

To this now early/late fall,
A 2nd chance
I ask
"What once was, Can it be brought back?"
"That's beyond my view"
"I plead and beg, the one wish of my life is to see those who are lost."
"But, to what cost?"

To this Early/Late Fall
Be here to watch me fall, one more time
Whether early or late
What is lost, can not be brought back.
In this
Early/Late Fall.
