Dortmund -the sun beaming whilst walking to school, having a gossip with your friends as soon as you entered, laughing until you physically couldn't breath anymore, walking to your grandparent's house, having ice cream with your cousins whilst running around the block screaming as the neighbouring kids chased after you.

"flight number 516, please head to gate 4", waking me up from my delusional thoughts, i dragged my feet up from the ground practically frozen- which could be because of the horrific weather in London or that i had to come to terms with the fact that my abuela was gone.

My dearest grandma turned 68 not a month ago and  2 days ago she died peacefully in her sleep. No one saw it coming, ever since my grandpa passed, she had kept a strong heart for herself but most importantly for her family.

Everyone was flying out to arrive in time for her funeral, most of my cousins settled in America, my brothers and parents in Madrid and i came to London to study medicine. It was my abuela's dream to become a dentist however of course she never got the opportunities which i'm so grateful for that i got. However a part of me never wanted to leave Spain, leaving behind my family, my friends, mili- my cat and my job that i had when i was 15 working in a cafe.

yes i know my life's quiet boring but i was content with it, until i got a scholarship offer. i never wanted to accept it until i got guilt tripped into the whole 'once in a lifetime' lectures. Anyways, reminiscing the past is my way of feeling comfort, feeling safe.

I was heading in to the airplane and the view outside the window was horrendous. The thunder quite literally roaring  and there were random outbursts of rain smacking into the window. i felt chills across my whole body. i was dressed in a tracksuit and that wasn't enough to keep me safe and steady.

On the plane, i got a seat near the window which i was yearning for; i could get lost in the beauty of nature. So far there was no one sat next to me and i prayed that it would remain like this.  The clouds were dark and miserable as always in the UK however i'd been here for so long it was normal for me. The plane hadn't even set off yet and my eyes were close to shutting off, still holding on for dear life,I connected my airpods, hearing Lana Del Rey's melodious voice was all i needed to drowse off.
