Your eyes roved your surroundings, and as you landed on yet another rooftop, you somehow managed to see a pink head of hair out in the distance. Thank the lucky stars that they all seemed all right, from this angle, at least.
Beginning to sprint, you were quick to catch up with them. Vi heard the commotion, and her eyes drifted up towards you as you climbed down a brick building. She almost seemed to sigh in relief upon seeing you.
"What the hell took you guys so long?! And, why do you guys smell like shit?"
You groaned, pinching your nose as your face scrunched up in disgust.
"Long story." Replied Claggor, and Vi simply sighed.
"We got chased by Enforcers, and they were hot on our trail, but thankfully we managed to leave unscathed. Well, almost, we had to go though the trash port."
She elaborated, shrugging her shoulders.
You pursed your lips into a line, stopping yourself from gagging at the putrid smell.
"But you're all safe, yes? Nobody got hurt, mission was successful?"
Everybody nodded, and you exhaled in relief.
"Good. I was beginning to think you all had gotten hurt, or caught. I had to bartend with Vander again just to convince him that you guys weren't up to something, and I'd very much like to get back to that now."
Vi chuckled.
"Fine, fine. Let's hurry up."
All of you continued walking back, not stopping when you saw several figures standing around the alleyway that happened to be in the direction of the elevator. You attempted to avoid eye contact, looking down at the floor, until one of the strangers cut the silence.
"Nice haul?" He queried, looking Vi up and down.
"You could say that."
Replied Mylo rather stupidly, to which Vi sent him a nasty glare at. The blond figure that seemingly picked up a conversation looked familiar, and you squinted your eyes in attempts to try and remember him.
"I heard there was some action across the river... Someone uh, someone really kicked the nest, huh?" He stated.
"Is that so?" Replied Vi.
The stranger blocked off the one way back to The Last Drop, and as you turned to go the other way the rest of the men blocked that way too. Trapped.
The guy in front of Vi chuckled, before standing up from the wooden crate he sat at.
"But now, you're-you're tracking this mess through my streets."
You scoffed. The nerve of this guy.
"Your streets?! What makes you think-"
Claggor quickly intervened Vi.
"Listen we don't want any trouble, okay?
He muttered nervously in attempts to ease the conflict, but deep down you knew this wasn't going to end well.
"Hear that Deckard? They don't want any trouble."
Deckard.
One of the men stated, mocking Claggor.
The name sounded so familiar, but you just couldn't put your finger on it.
"Y'know, in my experience, trouble finds you.
There's no reason this has to get ugly, how about you share a little taste of your treasure there, and we'll call it even?"
This blond dude definitely resembled the douche bag from yesterday for sure, given how they both shared the same amount of brain cells, 0.
"No, no! We worked too hard for this."
Vi put her hand on Mylo's shoulder, motioning him to quiet down as she walked towards the boy's direction.
"Just a taste?"
She muttered, looking up at him curiously.
"Just a-"
Unfortunately the blond guy couldn't finish his sentence, as Vi collided the bag filled with findings to his face, making him fall to the ground.
She threw the bag to Powder, who fortunately caught it, but looks of bewilderment and nervousness were written all over her features as her eyes widened.
To nobody's surprise, this had turned into a fight.
And since you were too caught up with Powder and the means to help her, you failed to notice the asshat that came your way and delivered a blow straight on the eye.
Your pain receptors throbbed as you hissed in pain, your hand quick to cover your now swollen eye.
But you were quick to regain your composure, and you gave the douche a taste of his own medicine.
He doubled back, but got into his original stance nonetheless.
He managed to punch you right on your nose, and right then and there you could not believe that you were getting beat up by a guy. An ugly one, at that.
The mere thought made a rush of adrenaline overcome you, and you hit him twice on the face, kicked him square in the abdomen, and thankfully made him fall back with a groan.
You were about to dislocate his jaw for closure, till he grabbed you by the leg and dragged you down to the floor. Just as he was about to strike again, you rolled out of the way and shoved his head onto the pavement. Do these guys not know when enough is enough?!
You watched as he remained still for a second, and right when you thought he had been knocked unconscious he caught sight of the vulnerable Pow-pow that was scared shitless.
She noticed this sudden shift of attention onto her and immediately began sprinting away.
The guy quickly got up and followed, too quick for you to actually hold him back.
How the hell did he have that much stamina after you almost beat the shit out of him?
Fortunately, Powder was smaller, and quicker. Even though the doofus was faster than you, he was no match for the girl.
You followed after them as fast as possible, breathing in through your nose as you struggled to try and reach the douche.
He finally seemed to stop at a dock, in search for Powder, but failed to realize that you were still following.
In a quickie, you kicked him against the wall.
"Where do you think you're going? I wasn't finished with you yet." He grunted as he made contact with the wall, wiping the blood off his brow and attempted to stabilize himself.
"Oh yeah? Well, I wasn't either."
What happened next, you never expected.
He had gotten a stray wooden board, and struck you on the head.
You fell to the floor, your vision beginning to get incredibly foggy, your head pounding.
You could not believe this.
Just how weak had you gotten?!
You groaned in pain, your hands quick to cradle your throbbing head.
The sound of planks falling to the floor rung out, presumably caused by Powder, and the asshole sought that as his opening to following the sound.
You heard the clicks of one of Powder's bombs, and when it exploded, pink clouds of dust dispersed in the air. Unfortunately for both you and Powder, the gadget had done no damage whatsoever. In fact, that fail left an opening for the guy to seize Powder.
You could not let this guy lay a hand on her. On you? Maybe. Not like you had much of a say in the matter. But on Powder? Absolutely not.
Gathering the last bit of strengths you had, you managed to get up woozily, witnessing Powder throwing the bag filled with the finds over the dock and into the body of water.
The man grunted in displeasure, anger coursing through him as he realized his chase was all for nothing.
But with the distraction caused, Powder got to sneak away. You took ahold of one of the planks, and hit the sorry excuse of a human in the head as hard as you could.
"Told you I wasn't finished." You spat, a small bit of triumph coursing over you.
He finally dropped unconscious to the ground, bloodied and bruised, and you let the plank fall on his head carelessly.
"Pow-pow? You still here?"
You croaked out, holding your still-pounding head. You'd managed to hold onto the dock's railing for support.
Her blue-haired head poked out, and a small smile appeared on your lips.
You may be on the brink of passing out, but at least she wasn't injured. That's all that mattered right now anyway.
"Y/n! Are you okay? Of course you're not, you look horrible!" She mentioned in a state of panic, and you chuckled.
"Gee thanks, Pow. Love the compliment."
The comment caused her to loosen up her state of stress, and she seemed to calm down a little.
"It's alright, Powder. What happened, happened. Just leave it as a matter of the past, it wasn't your fault. The guy had you cornered and left you no choice, I would've done it too." You reassured in attempts to soothe her uprising panic, knowing that she was mentally berating herself for her choice of actions.
She slowly nodded, coming to terms with your words. If anything, you felt slightly guilty that you couldn't stop the son of a bitch in time, but right now that was the least of your worries, given as you were currently seeing two Powders.
"Hey Pow, you think you can sorta help me out on the way back? I'm beginning to see stars everywhere."
