It was the day of the month were Miss Nightingale would take all of the children out on a walk outside the loop. She said it was to keep up with the modern day. Though you could never go because of your fairly obvious peculiarity... your wings. Getting out of bed you mood was already sinking, knowing that you'd be left at the loop the whole day, while everyone else was doing one of your favourite things! Reading, buying, borrowing and looking at books. It wasn't fair.

"No! Snap out of it. You know you can't go... last time people saw your wings didn't go to well did it." You said, of course talking to yourself and not another soul. But that's normal. Sometimes. The memory of when your wings first grew out. Your parents that blamed you for it, them taking you to a priest who did nothing else, then calling you a devils spawn. People -including your parents- trying to cut then off-. Your body shook lightly at the thought while your arms wrapped around you, and you shut your eyes tightly. It's a good thing Miss Nightingale was there that day, to rescue you... you slowly started moving again, walking over to the small closet in the corner of the room, right beside the window with the flower curtains. You grabbed your usual dress with a cutout in the back. It was kind of like a swim suit thinking of it. It had long sleeves, the skirt going from your waist down to mid shin, then the top layer of the dress which was of a much thinner silky fabric, and of course, the back cut out right at the bottom of your back up to where it was together at you shoulders. It was a very elegant piece and you'd always been very fond if it. And the fact that it gave your wings air was almost the best part if you were being honest. You threw your raven like hair into a messy bun and did a small eye shadow, then heading down.

"Good morning y/n?" A questioning voice said as soon as you stepped out of your room, making you immediately turn.

"Oh-" you said exhaling out if pure relief when realising that it was just your Ymbryne.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you" she said with a small laugh.

"It's alright, I just wasn't expecting you to be right outside my door" you laughed out. She started walking and gestured for you to come with as she went to speak again.

"And I wasn't expecting any of my wards to be up this early... and actually be fresh and wide awake" she said sceptically though with a playful smile.

"Yeah I- I just wanted to make the most of the day..."

"... since you know. Library day and all" you said looking away hoping your voice hadn't given away your disappointment. You didn't see your Ymbrynes pity full look, as she placed a hand on your shoulder.

"It's alright. I usually just sit around and have a little me time with some tea" you said cheering up and looking up at her again. Not that she was taller than you, but because you had been slightly slouched, your body answering to your foul mood.

"I'm glad you can always find the positives in things dear" she said with a smile which you happily returned.

"Now that you're up already. Would you mind helping me with breakfast?" She asked.

"Of course i'll help. I wouldn't want to get in your way." You said smiling and stretching your wings, at which the Ymbryne chuckled a little.

"I'll see you all later. Be safe!" You yelled after the lot when they left. Once they were out of sight, you closed the door and practically ran to the backdoor, swinging it open and barging out. You did a spin letting your body drop till it was near the ground, when you spread your wings allowing yourself to glide through the fresh air. Sometimes a reminder on how much you loved your wings was necessary. Highly necessary..!

-Miss Peregrines POV-

"Mr. Apiston" i say the boys name clearly so he will listen.

"If you cannot control your bees, I request you wear your nest" i say strictly. He had been teasing Claire all day. At first she had found it funny, but anyone could see she was growing tired of it at this point. The boy gave me an apologetic look and ran along with Millard to play soccer. Horace however was not delighted by that, as he knew he would have to be the judge if they got into an argument about wether it had been a foul or not. I chuckled a little before heading back to the parlour, to sit down with my -now cold- tea.

"Hm" i said as i went to pour it out the kitchen drain. The chasing of the boy had taken long enough for the tea to go cold. Not that i blamed him. As mentioned, he is just a boy. I smile a little before cleaning up the mug and wiping it down with a towel.

"Miss Peregrine?!" I hear the panicked yell making my blood immediately freeze. I turn and in a fast pace rush out to where the yell came from.

"Miss Bloom?" I say in a concerned manner as I approach the girl.

"Is something the matter?" I ask, thereafter realising I hadn't quite been able to mask my half panicked look with a flash of concern. I quickly compose myself as nothing seems to be at danger.

"Jacob hasn't shown up yet, and i've been holding both rope and squirrel for about ten minutes!" The girl complains and I have to smother a smile. Though that seems to only become easier when my thoughts start going off about were the boy might be...

"Miss Peregrine?" Emma says making me snap out of my trance and put on a plastic smile.

"Right- I'll step in for Jacob for today. Here-" I say as i give sign for her to hand me the rope. She does exactly that, and i tie it around her life, were after she undoes her shoes. I can't help but smile as she floats atop of me. Seeing all of their peculiarities will never make me less happy.
