Chapter four - Two weddings and a baby monk

Daciana was fond of the man she'd met in the ale house, Garrick. Though he didn't have the same beliefs as her, he agreed with her on the opinion of Saxons. When Uhtred returned with the group she introduced the men to Garrick, he immediately got along with everyone which made the woman content.

The night they had returned, when Finan came to her he was slightly shaken up by what he had seen. A dead man rose from his grave to tell Uhtred that he would be king of both Saxon and Dane, Finan admitted to her that he had been frightened initially.

"You should not be scared of the dead, especially when they bring a message from the gods." Daciana looked up at him from where she lay on his chest.

"It doesn't matter anyway. Sihtric waited behind, hidden of course. To see if it was real or not, turns out the whole thing was fake and I almost had a bloody heart attack for nothin" he half laughed as he traced patterns on her shoulder.

"Why would someone go through all that trouble just to make Uhtred a king. I mean, honestly, he's sworn to Alfred and everyone knows that."

"We spent half the time waiting in the hall, quite a dull trip if i'm honest. And I guarantee he's gonna get a bollocking off Alfred for crossing into Dane land without informing him."

"I'm just happy you're all back in one piece." She smiled and stretched her neck to kiss him.

Finan smirked as he moved himself further down the bed, grabbing hold of her waist as the kiss deepened. Then Daciana pulled away with a knowing look on her face.

"We have two weddings tomorrow. We both need our sleep." She reached over him to blow out the candle on the table.

"Ah, your gonna' be the death of me woman." He laughed through his nose, giving her another kiss. "Also, it was a complete waste of coins getting myself a room. Next time I'm telling Sihtric I'm sleeping in the barn and saving the money."

"Mhm, you do that." She breathed out as the man wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in close.

The day had come for the Lady Aethelflead to wed the Mercian Lord her father had chose suitable for her, but before that came the more important wedding to Daciana. Thyra and Father Beocca.

The brunette stood in the small chapel in between Sihtric and Finan, the couple were happily standing at the front getting their hands tied together by Uhtred. Daciana sported a wide grin as the man began to speak.

"I am witness, you are together, never to part, bound as man and his wife." Uhtred smiled to his sister and the man he admired greatly.

"And a prayer?" Father Beocca added.

"I don't know any prayers." Uhtred admitted making everyone giggle.

"I will say a prayer." Abbess Hild spoke up from the other side of the chapel.

"Hild, Please." Beocca nodded as the woman moved to stand next to Uhtred.

As Hild began her prayer Daciana dropped her hands to her sides, she did not believe in their god and wouldn't insult another faith by pretending to pray along with them. It would have been disrespectful.

Daciana bit down on the inside of her lip as she felt a warm hand slip into her own, holding back the smile that would give her away she eyed the man beside her. Finan stood with a smirk on his face as his eyes were closed and head facing the floor during the prayer. As the woman looked away from him she caught the eye of Gisela who raised her eyebrows knowingly when she noticed the two's hands.
