Staring at the haunted hallway with my friends we held hands.
I could feel myself shaking in excitement, anxiety, and fear.
I wondered what this year's seniors would bring, but I knew that something dark was near.
We were guided into different rooms not knowing what would await us.
One of the rooms had lots of people in it, but they were laying on tables.
A sheet covered their bodies as if they were dead.
I knew they were alive, but the door closed with a slam.
Aaniya screamed and started running away dragging me with her.
I was laughing, running and screaming until BAM!
I fell and was dragged into another room.
The lights were off, unable to see I ran into something else.
I couldn’t see so much fear set in my system.
I couldn’t see I wanted to cry not knowing what was in the room with me.
Something or someone started chasing me so I ran.
I knew it was all fun and games but something was chasing me.
All of a sudden I was out of the room running with Aaniya screaming.
My heart was racing while I looked for someone to hold on to.
My other friends were all quiet except for one.
One of the seniors started telling us we needed to run.
I didn’t need to be told twice and ran where she said the exit was.
Then it was all done.
Finally it was over. I could see there were no flashing or flickering lights.
No sound effects, smoke machines, or screaming in my ear.
There was a reason to cheer.
I had a cramp and was trying to breathe.
I took several deep breaths and was at ease.
At last I laughed and realized it was fun.
It was all harmless fun when it was said and done.
