Chapter 20 (Epilogue)

Start from the beginning

Hermione stopped for a moment, finding a book on the shelf she hadn't noticed before. After pulling it out to examine it's title-less cover, she opened it to find no real pages, and only saw a small empty square in the middle.

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Draco...what is this?"

She turned around, only to find Draco down on one bended knee, holding an engagement ring before her.

"Hermione Jean Granger...I know I'm not the man you thought you'd spend the rest of your life with, and I know that years ago, if someone told you Draco Lucius Malfoy was going to love you with every fiber of his being, you would've hexed them into oblivion." Draco laughed before taking her hand in his free hand.

He continued, "Today I kneel before you a changed man, a reformed man, and I hope that this...that I...am just a quarter of good enough to be your forever. I know I don't deserve you, but as you and I both know, I've been a selfish git, and will seemingly continue to be as I don't care that I don't deserve you. You are everything I've ever wanted, ever dreamed of, and more. You are brilliant, beautiful, and with a heart perhaps larger than your brain, and that's saying something."

Hermione laughed while choking back a sob, but he continued, "You and I will have arguments, disagreements, and bad days, but I'll take them all. I'll work through them with you, I'll do my best to make you smile despite it all, and I will be the best father and the best husband I can be for you and our children. Notice how I don't say 'I'll try'...It's not enough for me to just 'try', Hermione. This is a promise that I 'will be', and I will be all that and more if you'd allow me to have forever with you...and I hope that somewhere deep down...you'll want forever with me too. So please...Please say yes. Please, marry me."

Hermione got down on her knees, flung her arms around Draco and kissed him through her tears. She pulled back slightly and laughed, "Yes, I'll marry you, you selfish git. You're already the best father to our children, I have no doubt you'll be the best husband I could ever ask for...I want this. I want forever with you...I love you so much."

Now he was a blubbering mess.

After a few moments, they both laughed while kissing each others tears of joy away. He slipped the ring onto her finger and it magically sized itself to fit perfectly.

She shook her head, chuckling slightly, "How did you know I was going to stumble onto that book tonight?"

"I was actually planning on surprising you tonight with that 'new book'. I was just lucky enough you found it on your own, definitely saved me a lot of nervousness." He chuckled, kissing her once more.

She took in the sight of the man before her. A once broken, misguided, and scared boy...now kneeling before her as a good father, a reformed man, and a lover with her name engraved onto his heart.

She took his face in her hands once more and captured his lips, kissing him with as much love and passion as she could muster, as words just aren't enough to convey her feelings for him. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer, and deepening the kiss.

"I love you" he whispered onto her lips as they slightly pulled away for air.

She closed her eyes and whispered back, "I love you too...thank you."

He tilted his head in confusion, and she laughed, "What? I can't just be thankful for you?"

He hummed against her lips, "I suppose you could...I mean I did give you something the Weasel couldn't."

She laughed, shaking her head before pecking his lips once more, "That was quite the Christmas gift..."

"Maybe I can give you another one..." He smirked, quickly wrapping an arm around the back of her legs, and carrying her in a bridal position.

Hermione squealed as he began jogging out of the library and up the stairs to their bedroom, "Draco!"

He grinned, kicking in their door and throwing her onto their bed, "Quiet love...you can scream my name after I place a silencing charm on our bedroom door."
