Chapter One

"It must be true love, true love. It must be true love. Nothing else could break my heart like true love," I sang softly to myself as I rounded the corner and successfully collided into something, "oh, God! I'm so sorry."

I took my earphones out of my ears and looked up. A pair of electrifying blue eyes looked at me, a small smirk etched on the person's face. My heart skipped a beat, and if you could see when my face went red, I'd be looking like a tomato. The boy had brownish red hair and a pale complexion. However, he had a foreign tinge to his outline.

"It's okay. This is a dangerous corner," he said to me in a semi-deep voice that sent shivers down my back.

I laughed lightly as he smiled, a dimple denting his right cheek, and walked on. I looked back quickly and watched him walk away. I tried to think if I'd seen him before, but came up short. I knew almost everyone in the school, so he must be new. I continued walking and collided into another thing.

"Come on!" I sighed exasperated. Looking up, I saw who it was and smiled, "hey, Matthew!"

"You're so clumsy, Kathrine!" he teased, an amused smile lighting up his face.

"Whatever. No one said you had to appear here." Matthew was tall. No, take that back, he was a bloody skyscraper!

"I'm pretty hard to miss."

"Whatever. Do you know who the new guy is?"

"Yeah, his name is Dimitri."

"Oh. I see. Anyway, I'll see you around, Matt, Jack," I greeted him and the boy behind him and continued walking.

It was the last period now and I couldn't wait to get home. For once. Call me strange but if there was one place that I loved being, it was school. I spend most of my day here anyway, and I get along with most people. But that day was just that one day where I wanted to get home and sleep. And perhaps dream about a certain blue-eyed boy.

I took out my phone a sent a quick message to Lexi.

You: You're still dropping me home, right?

Lexi: Yup. See you now now.

You: Alrighty. See you :)

I put the phone back in my pocket and made my way to the English block for my last lesson.

"Hello," I greeted as I met Lexi at her mum's car.

"Hey," she smiled, "we're gonna be a bit squished. You and I are in the front. We're dropping Matthew off too."

"No prob," I said as I put my bags in the boot.

Matthew arrived at the car with his brother Jonath and, my stomach gave a flip, the new guy Dimitri.

"Hello, boys," greeted Aunty Stacy, Lexi's Mum.

"Hi," came the unison reply.

They put their bags in the boot and piled into the back seats of the car.

"So how is everybody?" Aunty Stacy asked as she drove out the school gates.

There was a mumble of replies ranging from good to okay and then silence. I looked back and saw Dimitri on his phone, listening to music, Jonath was squished in the middle and Matthew was looking out of the window.

"Dimitri, you settling in?" she asked, looking in the rear-view mirror at him.

Jonath nudged Dimitri and he took his earphones out.
