Though, as someone who'd indulged in fanfiction culture, you found yourself not caring all that much. They had to express themselves somehow, you knew that you'd used fanfiction to do that, so why not let the kids be kids? They could cringe about it later, like you were doing.
Still... people thought you were sexy. What an odd thought.
Gerard thinks you're sexy.
You wanted to slap yourself for that thought, but instead swallowed your scream, and looked at Harvey warily. "What do you do in a relationship?" you questioned pathetically.
"You've never been in one?" he returned in puzzlement. "I thought you had a boyfriend in college."
"I did," you admitted, "but my mum—" you stopped, and rephrased it, "we didn't cover much ground. Things out of our control caused us to break up. I'm still kinda unsure of how to do this type of thing."
"I'm sure Gerard will be more than willing to show you the ropes," Harvey replied, "but honestly, a big part of it is making sure that you don't focus on just yourself, or just on them — a relationship is about the two of you. Balance each other out."
You looked away, down at your CD that was still playing in the background, as if it would offer some kind of advice; and the lyrics told you, with a shrug, "But sometimes second best is all you're going to get."
Thanks, Jarvis Cocker.

Your face was hot. You felt like you were being boiled alive.
You supposed that perhaps the summer weather had something to do with it, but the main reason was most likely that Gerard was half splayed across you, sunglasses still on, fast asleep, head tucked into the crook of your neck, while little snores escaped him.
And by god, this guy was not letting you budge an inch. You had pins and needles all the way down your legs and arm, and the fact that everyone that passed by you gave you an odd look wasn't really helping.
What had begun as a fairly innocent encounter, with Gerard approaching you as you sat outside the venue, to have a chat with you, had turned into something slightly stressful. Somehow, during your discussion, he'd lost the will to stay awake, and had fallen asleep on your shoulder — now, you were stuck here, wondering if you should move or not.
You were going to be on stage in two hours, and Gerard had already performed, so it was really just a matter of how long you could keep holding your posture. To be honest, you didn't really want to wake him up, the poor man looked utterly shattered, following his demanding show.
Yet, with the more people that came and went, you began to feel more and more self conscious. You took a sip from the water bottle in your free hand, and then glanced to the side to see if anyone you knew was going to turn up — it didn't seem like it.
You tried to reposition yourself slowly, but as you did, a shadow fell across you, prompting you to peer up; it was Ray, who was holding a cup of coffee, glancing between you and Gerard questioningly. He whispered unsurely, "This is for him."
You sighed, and waved your hand, "Give it here, I'll give it to him when he gets up."
As Ray passed the drink to you, he once again peeked at you two. "He really, really likes you," he remarked in a mumble.
You gulped at the comment, and tried not to look embarrassed. "I'm assuming you talked to him?" you asked weakly.
"Yeah, Frank and I just helped him talk through his feelings," Ray replied, "he really needed it. In the end he kinda came to the conclusion that he wanted to, y'know, date you, and he went off to see if you'd be at the party yesterday. I guess you two talked there."
